I'm Asian-American, and I understand the honest sentiment behind "diseased Chinese people", but you're right. I know a lot of us understand that being Chinese doesnt automatically make you infected, and the problem started in China not the US, BUT there are probably some people who do jump to the conclusion that Asians in America are somehow "dirty". I've gotten weird stares myself, and I'm perfectly healthy.
The Chinese race is not diseased, but people coming from China have a higher likelihood of carrying the virus. (Although the threat is way overblown, especially now.)
Funny story though, I went to an Asian celebration during the SARS outbreak, and I'll swear that I immediately came down with the worst fever of my life. So...yeah, take that as you will.
