I think if stupid people are coddled, then stupid people will breed when if left to nature, they wouldn't otherwise. BUT. As a christian, I see that every family has a simpleton in it or two. And if the simpleton is your family's simpleton, you try to do as best you can to please God and be as a shepherd to your brothers and sisters.
I think media bears some responsibility for this. As people who publish, they are supposed to know that your audience is bound to contain a share of simpletons. There is a responsibility for, say Vogue Magazine not to print a story that says "Add arsenic to your breakfast cereal for all day metabolism boost!"
