YES. This. It looks like we are getting better evidence by the day about the efficacy of this drug. I am praying that this will be the miracle cure that holds up as these doctors are suggesting. Provided it is this effective (and I'm not just falling victim to confirmation bias), as you say, we're not out of the woods yet. Hopefully we are ramping up production of this combo and getting it through the supply chain. IMO we need to maintain and expand our behavioral responses (i.e. social distancing, wide-scale testing, track and trace, etc.) to buy us the time needed to ramp up. FINGERS CROSSED!
No. But the fact that he wants to waste time in new clinical trials when two drugs that have been proven to be safe so far have has a nearly 100% success rate proves the Big Phama snake angle to me.
By all means, keep up the research and testing on other treatments, but start using what works now.

There are reports of some hospitals not using it until people are in bad condition. This is not good. As more use it and the success becomes more evident, there's less of a risk of getting a doctor/hospital that has this policy. Since this disease is reputed to cause lung damage if it gets serious, you don't want that to happen. Everyone needs to be very careful for the next couple weeks at the least. We need the treatment to be standardized and the insanity to slope down from its peak.
It's already approved for off-label use. I'm still waiting for the trials (already in progress) to confirm my hopes, but patients are still able to request this.
Yeah, we'll stay self-quarantined for a while. We have an elder living with us, so we're in this for the long-haul.
He's healthy, strong, still works outside like a bull - but he's pushing 78. So, we'll wait til it's safe for him before we get out any more than we have to. I don't even mind.

This is exactly what I am afraid. Most doctors will not prescribe it until FDA clears it, or as compassionate care (the patient is dying).
