We kinda lack that in comparison. For example, I watched a live cam of Tokyo today. Within 1 minute I saw a guy bring trash out, then sweep up a few items of debris on the sidewalk. I can't remember when I ever saw that here.
They have their disadvantages, but they're amazing people.
And after/during Fukushima, they waited in line for relief. Orderly, despite that fact their houses and friends were just killed. I heard, but never learned, they they have a word to describe "shit happens", meaning it is a part of life and the best way through it is civil behavior. They also drink like champs and their lady folk have sideways vaginas.
