This brazen attempt to extort the American people's desperation for their pet progressivist projects is one of the first things I've seen that woke up even those on the far left. I saw people who I never would've imagined defending Republicans or saying a disparaging word about Democrats who were absolutely furious with Democrats over this bullshit; even despite the media's best efforts to paint it as Democrats objecting to "not enough worker protections" and "loopholes for CEOs".
