I put off reading Dostoyevsky for the longest time, and I had been missing out. I picked up The Idiot and could NOT put it down. Now I know why Russians are so dang proud of their literature. After that I wanted to read more Russian classics, so I read Dead Souls by Nikolai Gogol. It was freaking great.
Also wonderful and highly underrated in the world of classic lit is Somerset Maugham.
