Good news? They'll be a huge sale on new cars at dealerships in about a month or two, if you can wait that long. Low financing too.

If its RWD its not a hard DIY repair. The serpentine belt probably got rekkt because the water pump froze up. The coolant leak can be from the water pump, or possibly intake manifold gaskets. Its likely only a bad deal if you overheated the engine.

Now if its FWD the water pump might be in a super shitty location due to the transverse engine layout.

What kind of vehicle?

I'm in awe of people like you who know so much about cars. Anyway, the Senate is about to pass a $1,200 stimulus check if that'll help get it back on the road or get a new vehicle. Hang in there pede.

I learned out of necessity - grew up poor and stayed that way for a long time. Had to keep the various vehicles I had going to get to work and keep plugging away. Now theres very little I cant do; theres virtually nothing I cant replace thats attached to the engine and Ive removed and replaced transmissions before as well. I have not rebuilt one and dont plan to learn, and havent ever built an engine but I understand how and plan to put a stand in my garage.

I bet you could fix it yourself for a lot less.

Serp belt is super easy. Water pump is like 6-800 depending on the car. Manifold leaks that don’t mix with the oil can usually go without fixing. If it burns off with the air/fuel mix it will live for a while.

Find a small shop it will be cheapest and you’ll get enough time out of it. Otherwise, buy a beater instead.

Fix it yourself. Water pump may be a bit of a pain in the ass. But serpentine belt is moron level easy shit. Fix it. Be a man!!!!
