It has instances in where it's working. Marvel and DC are crumbling because their comics are no longer popular due to diversity hires and politics. Indie comics (notably Comicsgate) is more successful than some of the big 2's major franchises. Then you have movies like Terminator, Birds of Prey, and Ghostbusters 2016(?) that flopped because of politics.

And then you have the instances of people in the center or who were once on the left that were either betrayed or found that those they considered enemies aren't the demons they thought they were.
