China's "actual official story" now is that the virus was made in a lab in the US and released in China by the US Army to frame them for causing the outbreak. Whatever genome the researchers were screwing around with in the Wuhan lab, probably came from an animal at the wet market, then got out of their control and infected the researchers before they could contain the virus. That's the story I believe is true.
Wasnt the director of the Wuhan 4 lab convicted for selling experimental animals in that market and other markets in the region? He embezzled like 1.2 million and was sentenced to 8-10 years. I'm sure those stories have been scrub, let me see if I can find a link

The virus was being studied in the lab, and someone who worked there sold infected bats (not sure if they were dead or not at the time) to the market because in a totalitarian society, you do whatever you can to make a little extra money on the side.

From mid-December to late January they said nothing. They did nothing to stop international travel from China.
Early February it was clear Chinese people were spreading it to other parts of the world. The cases on the cruise ships (the one in Japan) were from Chinese workers. Then the first few cases in the EU were from people that had traveled to and from China.
The case that sparked the shit show taking place in Italy was connected to someone that had traveled from China.
China and the WHO not telling anyone about the virus in mid-December fucked any chance the world had to stop it.
