If I tell a joke at a party, I dont provide sourced stories to show why the joke is funny.....its not as funny that way! I assume that the moderator who saw the post, threw a sticky on it because they knew what it meant. Nothing is "Rapidly Devolving" around here.

Yeah, I got burned by that once. I used the "Even though there is no evidence, the seriousness of the charge is what matters." quote and someone who had never heard it from Tom Foley assumed I meant it rather than meant the sarcasm it richly deserved.
Your joke analogy does not align with my description of the issue.
It is more like coming home from work and your wife saying “Honey you won’t believe what he said, it was so awful and I am so upset and he is such a jerk.”
