She's one sharp woman. Very smart and very well spoken. We're lucky to have her working with Trump and the team to get things figured out.

Shorter. Cuomo is a moron and spouting a bunch of bullshit. Media laps it up.

Dr. Birx pointed out that the doomsday scenarios Dems have been painting in order to induce a “not enough ventilators” panic assume we do nothing to mitigate the spread, includes numbers from 3 seasonal waves of the virus as if they all occurred in 1 wave, and other ridiculous assumptions.

This is not to say that we can be cavalier about resources. Most of my colleagues have never had to work in a resource constrained medical environment and the very idea of not having every resource necessary to save every patient is unthinkable to them. I have done medical work in Africa and had to watch people die for lack of commonplace treatments here in the USA such as dialysis. Not pleasant but a reality in many places.

Yeah, the Governor of MN was saying if we don’t close businesses until May 1 and do online school until May 4th that 74,000 Minnesotans could die.

Now, where is he getting these numbers?
Does that take into account that this virus could fizzle out? That the treatment could work (HCL and Z pak)? That even China does not have numbers like that?

We have under 300 cases and under 30 hospitalized (I think it was around 15) and 1 death. And he is saying if we don’t destroy our economy 74,000 people will die? I just find it odd.

It doesnt take any of that into account. I was saying this watching Walz yesterday. They use these numbers and scenarios because they are being used elsewhere. The "experts" in charge (and dont get me wrong many of them are very smart people) have never dealt with something like this before and have no idea what they are doing. They use models and outcomes that take incomplete data from China and elsewhere and use that data to make assumptions about our population which varies greatly from the data set.

I was also thinking about how when its all said and done we never come back to these original figures and consider how drastically wrong they were after the fact. We were supposed to be out of ventilators already but there's no talk of that. The estimates are high because worst case scenario for these experts is the results come back way below and they get treated like heroes for stopping what otherwise would have destoroyed humanity. Noone ever questions where all the money they are receiving ends up after the fact.

The reason we have groups like the CDC in place is to prevent this very thing from happening and where is the first place we go every single time the CDC fails to do their job? Thats right, the CDC we go to the same people who couldnt do the one thing theyre asked to do and we use those same people to predict how bad this catastrophe is going to be and how much money they are going to need to fix it.

Exactly. And when the numbers come in at far less, Tim Walz can just say, "Well, it's because I shut down the entire state for six weeks. Had I not done that, 74,000 people dead!"

And the USA is not China. Already, we have a treatment plan that seems fairly solid (H+A+Z) and Dyson has come up with a new ventilator in ten days and already have 15,000 in production to send to NYC.

The fear mongering and destruction of our economy is the worst. These things are probably more detrimental to most Americans than the virus.

Cuomo doesn't want to curb any panic, he'd rather feed it.

Could it be possible that we hit 80% if a huge percentage of those are asymptomatic though?

I deleted all my social media, but my wife still checks out Facebook frequently. The Ohio peeps she knows and Ohio related pages are filled with panic peddlers scoffing at people disobeying the lockdown order, and trying to assert moral highground over these freedom lovers.

Oh, the people acting holier than thou because they are social distancing are driving me nuts. Personally, I stay home much of the time and our state lockdown is pretty much what I do anyway...grocery shop, walk the dog, etc. but I am exhausted hearing people chastise other people on social media because they leave their house.
