I have first hand experience with this issue. The kids eat every crumb of the food they get and then look around for more. It’s a shit cycle that has been created.
I spent 2 weeks every summer as a teenager feeding kids that otherwise wouldn't be getting lunches because they were out of school.
I don't think the government needs to be doing it, but it is a problem, has been a problem since before I was born, and we need to do more as humans to fix it.
A good way to fix it is end government dependence and stop stealing 50% of everyone's paycheck and punishing families for having a father in the home.
Dude, they are still getting fed. We are feeding g them daily breakfast and lunch. On fridays they can take weekend meals with them. Plus their parents are selling their foodstamps still, so they can still get takeout and Takis from the local bodega.

I work in this industry, the children are being provided breakfast and lunch, curbside pick up Nationwide, some delivered.
Our District bussed out 20k meals over the past two days.
The money for these programs was already there, they provide this no matter what, they just run it out to the curb now, pipe down.
There are Summer programs for nearly every school in America.

yeah... from experience, School is the only place the kids get to eat, but nesrly every school in america is delivering meals to the kids at home now
