My wife is in the Army Reserve as a nurse.
We’ve already done 2 deployments in the past 3 years. She’s done 3 or 4 deployments in the last 4 years. I’ve never known any reservist to be called up so much. So many reservists are never deployed at all.
Anyhow, her medical unit says she needs to be ready and “green” having everything prepared to be mobilized/deployed. Likely she’d be taken to New York or some US Coronavirus hotspot.
We have a 1 year old and I work in healthcare too.
I just don’t know how I’d manage if she is called up. She only works 2 days a week right now and I work 4.... we are scheduled so someone is always home with our son.

Prayers incoming! I think HCL(+/-Z) is that game changer. There is evidence since 2005 that it works in a lab setting and now currently in the field with actual very positive reports coming in. Also, the recent data from the WSJ and FT that shows that original estimates very VASTLY over estimated and real actual severity and death is much much lower. It still can be pretty nasty, and it's hard to determine what factors stipulate who gets a bad case, but overall very hopeful data is emerging. With deaths still climbing though, I have my doubts...
It it not effective? Is it not being used widely enough? Is it in shortage? Is it only effective if started earlier in the disease process and maybe it was just too late for those dying?
Whatever the case, I’m hopeful about it. My brother is a physician in rural New Mexico and his practice has only seen one person with the virus and they administers HCQ iv and said the patient improved dramatically.

No family around who can help? I’ve been in that position for years and preferred to do stuff for my kids myself. But there are times when you’ve got to call in help. I had neighbors and my husband’s coworker who helped us out when I ended up in the hospital for 3 months (twins on the way). That was eons ago and not in the middle of a pandemic. Hopefully you’ve got someone nearby who can step in and help.

My wife is already doing therapy for PTSD. She joined the army after 9-11 after she was recruited by the FBI... because her father was Lebanese (since passed of cancer) and mother Italian. She grew up speaking three languaanes including Arabic so she was recruited to do translation... I think she did some time in the Middle East which she never talks about and then also involved in interrogations of prisoners in Leavenworth. She used GI bill to go to nursing school and changed rolls from being a translator to being a nurse.
We are hoping she can get disqualified from deployment at her required medical physical because of her PTSD treatment ....
Hate to say it, but I hope she’s “too crazy” to deploy.

But CV19 was pretty much a nothin burger and while she was told to be ready to leave “next week”...no other calls ever came.
