Virtually every revolution has been on the backs of peasants who just want some goddamn bread or rice or whatever (a notable exception is 1776, which was also ideological in nature, but even that had a lot to do with excessive taxation). Nobody can escape that basic fact forever.
There’s a reason “bread and circuses” exists as a term, and it’s due to the observation that people will put up with basically anything as long as they have food and some kind of entertainment. One’s mostly shut down, and the other may be lost if this situation goes on much longer. At that point, the boogaloo begins. Sic semper tyrannus, motherfuckers
Not to take away from your point but it's worthwhile to consider shutting down liquor stores could basically kill hardcore alcoholics from withdrawal. Yea, most places (and I believe NYC? It's been like a decade since I've been) you can still go get beer or wine at a store but that's not everywhere.
