Awesome, any pork in there?

If they voted 96-0 it's all pork.

They pat themselves on the back for giving away money we don't have that our children will have to pay back.

When you owe the bank $1,000,000 dollars, you have a problem... when you owe the bank $1,000,000,000 the bank has a problem

This.

Only $6.4 trillion of our debt is held by foreigners. https://www.thebalance.com/who-owns-the-u-s-national-debt-3306124

A default would mostly screw our own people.

eplettner 2 points ago +3 / -1

You can selectively default. Reduce our debt to china by the same amount as it came from China and they lied about it. A 2.2 trillion bill to China sounds about right. Could add in a mental anguish payment for th hem withholding pharmaceutical supplies too.

I believe that quote is attributed to Trump right after the real estate crash in the 1990s.

squarkle_bargle 2 points ago +2 / -0

You realize that the vast majority of the debt is owed to American people who own bonds?

Nobody is ever paying that monstrous bill back. It'll just grow because our money is toy money. Just use it for as long as it has value and one day some president will reset the clock and issue new toy money.

exactly... as long as the world backs the dollar we good. it's not like a simple checkbook. as long as we are world power we have no issue.

UpTrump 8 points ago +10 / -2

Exactly. Our currency runs the world. We keep going into debt until some other countries have had enough

eplettner 2 points ago +3 / -1

I've been through the bill and this is the leanest emergency relief bill I've ever seen by far. The few million in their of pork is nothing compared to the over 2 trillion in support to the American people.

350 Million compared to 2,200,000 Million 0.01% you are complaining about literally nothing

$25 Million Dollar salary and expenses raise for the Democratic-Led House... FUCK PELOSI!!

UpTrump 32 points ago +32 / -0

WHY ARE WE GIVING 350M TO REFUGEES AND ILLEGAL ALIENS (MIGRANTS)

9
lifeisahologram 9 points ago +9 / -0

To help fight Coronavirus silly! Gotta pay muh refugees!

6
_Cabal_ 6 points ago +7 / -1

"muh compromise"

It's disgusting, as are all the people here rationalizing this garbage.

3
Yucky 3 points ago +4 / -1

People keep posting this without having read the bill (Which is 883 pages). They add extra amounts for many departments to:

"prevent, prepare for and respond to coronavirus"

This is done for the Peace Corps, and other agencies, as well as the refugee stuff.

Granted, I don't like seeing any money go to refugees, this is not about adding more, or giving them extra money. It's about dealing with what happens if there is an outbreak among refugees.

So yes, it's bad, but not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. A lot of the bad pork was removed.

Depends on which beaurocrat it running it. Get a trumpocrat in that position and it may go to resettling refugees BACK to there countries

iRubGuacOnMyArmpits 28 points ago +30 / -2

Bill is filled with pork. Search for "refugee", "kennedy", "sunscreen", "house of representatives salaries" and what not and you will be shocked as the stuff in there.

Unfortunate that Trump won't veto

I wish GOP had a spine. Weak GOP is why our country will collapse or revolt soon

We are right about in the "weak men make bad times" phase

civil war

The President said he personally agreed to the Kennedy Center funding. Is anybody actually watching the press conferences anymore?

People are blowing things out of proportion. The money for specific departments is usually allocated specifically for dealing with the Chinavirus, within that entity, if it affects them negatively somehow. Yes, it's not necessary right now, but it's also not the end of the world.

For an additional amount for ‘‘Corporation for Public Broadcasting’’, $75,000,000, to remain available through September 30, 2021, to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, including for fiscal stabilization grants to public telecommunications entities, as defined by 47 U.S.C. 397(12), with no deduction for administrative or other costs of the Corporation, to maintain programming and services and preserve small and rural stations threatened by declines in non-Federal revenues: Provided, That such amount is designated by the Congress as being for an emergency requirement pursuant to section 251(b)(2)(A)(i) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985.
