They're saying it's possible because China said they found another, more aggressive strain. That claim has also been disputed, so who knows where this rabbit hole leads. We don't know if it exists, or when it mutated, or if it was contained, or anything that would justify a drastic response. I'm sure the appropriate officials are looking into the matter, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Not that I have much left to lose at my age.
You mean in the fall? Yeah, that's how flu season works. If it does come back around it's not going to be as bad as the first time because the population will have developed some measure of resistance, and hopefully we'll have an effective treatment and/or vaccine by then. If they're thinking about locking the country down again during the election they're out of their damn minds.
The flu is a virus too, and the wu flu is among the families of common respiratory viruses that people often refer to as the flu when they get sick but don't get tested. This one may be worse than the influenza strains but it doesn't kill as many people as "the flu". If it subsides in summer that's a good thing because it means it's not going to keep spiking and tearing the country a new asshoe all year. If it's seasonal, and as relatively mild as it's starting to look, it just means the country will be a little more snifflier than usual in the winter. If we develop a vaccine it'll probably get colloquially lumped into the "flu shot" because most patients don't care about the scientific terminology of what's infecting (or treating) them, they just want to feel better.
Possible, but if it's following the seasons it's probably going to flock with the rest of them. Unless there's another mutation driving it there's no reason why it should behave much differently than the rest of the coronaviruses. They're in that niche because that's where they best survive, so if this one is an outlier, peaking too soon or too late (as it is now), it's also more likely to die off. I'm guessing it's eventually just going to become part of the cornucopia of maladies we humans suffer through every year. Things will settle down, and then someday another virus will come along and everyone will lose their minds again. We'll learn more about it as we go, but there's no use freaking out over speculation about worst-case possibilities.
May happen -- public health experts are saying this too. But if it happens, Joe will have long since forgotten the first spike.

The "second spike" isn't related to a different strain, it's related to the return of cold weather.

Indeed, Joe couldn't recall whether he was running for Senate or president
It’s almost as if someone is spreading the disease on purpose....
Biden is personally accelerating the spike by sniffing all the children he encounters while out campaigning.
