I'm honestly sick with Reddit to the core. I've been using the website years before it went mainstream and was around when /r/the_donald still only had less than 100k subscribers.

Reasons why I'm leaving

  • /r/the_donald being quarantined, I should have left at this point, but I finally ended up leaving when the Reddit admins removed more than half of our mods.
  • Reddit being a liberal circle jerk echo chamber.
  • There are many liberal mods on Reddit who want to censor.
  • The fundamental system of upvoting and downvoting is flawed. The downvote can be weaponized.
  • People are obsessed with karma.
  • /r/WatchRedditDie showing how much censorship the place has.
  • Admins being incredibly biased, post a far left liberal view and it remains. Post a center right conservative view and it gets mass downvoted, gets removed, and you might get banned from the subreddit or banned from the website itself.
  • /r/coronavirus - The CCP has infested that subreddit. It's very largely anti-Trump. It's becoming the new /r/politics. Say anything bad about the CCP and you get banned. Say anything bad about Trump and you get up voted. Additionally, alternative coronavirus subreddit are being quarantined.

Some other reasons

  • Outside of politics, I'm subbed to memes and Self-development. I'm bored of memes. And for the latter, I'm just consuming self-help junk where I will almost never apply it to my life.
  • The culture of Reddit is stupid. It's filled with arm chaired individuals. Most people only read the title of the post. Reddit awards are being awarded on mass to political posts. Comments and jokes are predictable.

I'm largely getting away because I cannot support a platform that is so open with censoring. The only problem with these too big companies is that you miss a large chunk of information online. It's like trying to avoid YouTube. Reddit is deeply integrated with the Internet. You can delete your Facebook and won't miss much, but a lot of important information is found on Reddit. Does anyone know a way to bypass this?

I used the website PowerDeleteSuite to mass edit my thousands of comments and submissions. It's done like that because Reddit and archival websites like Removeddit stores your latest edits. By editing them, it will only store the edited junk phrase.

Thanks for reading. I'm done with Reddit.

I'm very close behind you. I was never super active in T_D although I had been subbed for quite a while.

This latest virus nonsense has just become the last straw. I was never in any other political subs at all--mainly sports, video games, and local subs. It was already becoming more and more unbearable nonsense. You couldn't disagree with anyone in a logical respectful way about anything (meaning completely non-political) without them just brigading you with bullshit. The liberal mindset has really taken over as the "acceptable" method of discussion.

Now all these subs are full of BS virus discussion. God forbid you ask a question about going outside or anything other than complete and total virus fear-mongering.

At best I stick with 4-5 smaller subs I enjoy. I still have not visited Reddit much lately anyway.

I went through a little similar remorse when I deleted my 300k karma account. It passed in a week, and now I rail against people who call for brigading because they don't deserve the traffic.

Never forget what they did. They attempted to TELL YOU what YOUR OPINION could be by patrolling upvotes.

Never give that power to anyone....ever.

haven't posted on Reddit in over a month, thinking of pulling the plug on my 192k account. Site just isn't as entertaining as anonymous message boards without The Donald.

t_d made reddit FUN. Without it, sure, you can get some info for certain hobbies or tech stuff. But none of that is fun, and it was the fun and camaraderie that kept us coming back.

had /r/thedonald bookmarked as my reddit home page, seldom left to visit other subs. /thedonald gone...reddit gone

I tried to see what was going on in The_Donald. I was made to request permission to post. In the dialog box I asked "Why do I need to ask to post?". I never got permission. The site is dead. No new posts in weeks. Even in spite of 1.2k winners online right now.

Sad

Its worth mentioning (and i know from experience) that since about 2014 the American communist movement has been absolutely taken over by the Maoist third-worldist movements seen in FRSO (was a member of, this ain't your dad's CPUSA). Its even more terrifying when you realize FRSO supported and endorsed candidates in Virginia and Phili who won and now have legislative control.

Me too. The emo commie take over of r/funny was my last straw.

Good for you! I've been with Reddit for close to 10 years. I went to it after Digg destroyed their own platform and became an advertisement wasteland.

I've found myself reading and posting more on TheDonald.win as Reddit continues their descent into complete garbage.

I hope that once our President is reelected then this website opens up subreddits so I can abandon Reddit entirely.

I used to still use reddit for a sub dedicated to one of the mobile games I'm playing. The mod stickied a pro-Bernie anti-Trump post. Every single comment was along the lines of WTF is this doing here, I play games for fun, keep politics out of it...etc.

The post is still stickied. The mod doesn't even play the game of the sub he moderates. Reddit is corrupt to the core.

That place went from Wild Internets to 1984 so fast, it's mindblowing. The surprise, it was all the_donald's fault for existing. Triggered TDS Tards who spent all their time and energy trying to undo t_d. LOL. Until they were just unable, they couldn't even, they reeeee'd together and decided to go all Nazi Germany. That place is an authoritarian cess pool overrun with asshoe group think.

I’ve been banned from enough subs because of GEOTUS and unpopular opinions, I’ve tired of it too. I just have to let go of a career development sub I started .

Comments and jokes are predictable.

I agree with everything but this was the icing on the cake for me.. completely outside of political shit.. just looking for a distraction when i take a shit.. it's the same boring "meme" comments in every fucking thread.. karma whoring, people trying so hard to be 'funny' or witty or whatever it's just cringe as fuck.. i started on there years ago with just gaming conversation.. that's all I will go back for now.. T_D and the like truly opened my eyes to how fucking mass censored and controlled that site, and all sites for that matter, really are.. the suppression of anything against the narrative is fucking insane.. people are truly in a fight for their freedom, and so many bots and actual real people just surrendering to the mainstream garbage, ruining their own lives and possible chances of happiness or success is incredible.

Great summary. I have a question on this point:

The fundamental system of upvoting and downvoting is flawed. The downvote can be weaponized.

I believe you are correct, however I still believe the initial premise of the system is a good one: it allows people to weigh in on what's good or bad, then show a final score.

So given the flaws you mentioned, what would you propose to fix it? I honestly see a ton of posts here that I wish I could downvote.

I'm open to ideas.
