I have been hearing reports that as of today the United States has experienced more deaths than China. What? A country of 1.3 billion? We have more people that have died of China Flu than the Chinese?

It's not impossible to believe. They restricted travel outside of Hubei province almost immediately by barricading or destroying roads. Hardcore lockdowns. Testing people in the streets for fevers, and anyone who had a fever was forcibly dragged away to quarantine. They were spraying disinfectants all over the city. Even going inside office buildings to spray.
An authoritarian government has the best chances of quick containment because the citizens don't expect and aren't given the freedom they are elsewhere in the world.
Even with such extreme measures you'd still have risk of spread. You can't just stop viral spread like that, there's an infinite number of transmission vectors. Certainly they didn't do that for every province in China, there's no way they have the finances for such an operation.
Them reporting zero new infections is proof positive they are lying. Pre-symptomatic people becoming symptomatic should still be contributing to their numbers for many weeks yet.

Sort by total deaths. China has reported 3,207 deaths, US has reported 1,037.
But, don't trust China, China is asshoe.
If you extrapolate data from other countries, China's death tally is anywhere between 30,000-200,000. It's impossible for them to only be at 3200.
They also might be manipulating the "cause of death" to exclude COVID-19 if there was any pre-existing condition.
