Medical grade masks have an anti-bacterial coating. The ones I have seen are green.
Before the run on them, you could buy N95 masks (not medical grade) at Home Depot or Lowe's. I have several that I use for dust protection.

Healthcare workers know the difference between these two items. You don't. Yes the masks are an important part of their PPE but they are not the same type of equipment as a ventilator. Once you understand the difference, you'll know why finding a stash of ventilators is much more significant than finding a stash of masks.

I think a lot of the confusion is masks are also called respirators. Respirator sounds like a machine but it is only a mask. Ventilator is the actual +$20k machine that forces air into ones lungs.
I found the box my high grade allergy masks come in, and calculated that 39 million would take up 829,861 cubic feet. That would be two 30,000 sq ft warehouses packed solid to 15 feet. Not something you'd overlook.
