I dont agree with that at all. That will have severe unintended consequences.

Starting with maybe China would retaliate and confiscate all property in China owned by Americans.

Second, real estate would drop substancially in demand (since we excluded 1/6th of the world from buying) It will also scared other foreigners from buying. When demand drops, so does the price (just like gas during corona virus). If real estate prices collapse, anyone who took a mortgage for a house would now owe more than the house is worth.

3rd, it would stop bringing foreign money into the USA. Whats wrong with a Chinese person buying here and creating jobs to build/flip houses?

4th, if China cant do anything with the dollars that they are forced to have (to do oil transactions), they would dump them and the dollar would collapse.

I can go on but you get the idea. Nationalism is good but to an extent.

"Government is not the solution to our problems. Government is the problem."

I have never seen the government banning anything having positive results and Im low key disappointed reading the comments of everyone agreeing here.

Americans are not allowed to own real estate in China, so good luck with that retaliation...

You mean housing might be affordable? Awesome!
