Americans dont own anything in China, you know nothing of the Chinese laws and their backwards culture
Foreigners have zero rights, you can "buy" land even though its extremely difficult but its still actually owned by the CCP and can take it whenever they want
Easy for you to say since you dont own anything in China since you dont own shit anyway. Thats not how economics work. Trump himself has foreign investments (at least before he ran) should that be taken away from him? Citizenship as a requirement to invest is a retarded proposal at best.
Sorry I missed this comment. My overall logic is simple. Nationalism is good in the sense of people voluntarily wanting to buy American but not in the forced sense where government bans buying foreign products.
In free market principle, I dont agree with the tariffs and even Trump said its not ideal. He's just playing a bad hand the best he can. He has said the ideal is no tariffs on either side. Thats the free market. Trump's long term goal is for China to eliminate their tariffs so we can have free market, not raise tariffs on China forever.
Going back to banning non-US citizens from buying property...Think about it from all American sellers POV. How does it benefit THEM if the US government reduces the amount of buyers?... That will help American buyers but not American sellers. Once again, this would be government trying to control the free market and we all know how that ends.
This issue is much deeper than we can get to in a single threat but just remember that everything government does to "help" always has severe unintended consequences.
Looks like we found the internationalist rat who's scared of losing all the "investments" he's made in America's enemies. Were you one of the ones crying about Trump's trade wars?
The US is the wealthiest country on the planet. We have zero reason to allow foreigners to buy up our properties or own shares in our industries.
Technically, the US is the most in debt country on the planet, something like 31 trillion dollar debt now, not counting unfunded liabilities or whatever they're called?
Also the USA doesnt have huge diamond mines like South Africa for example, by making people only able to invest in their countries, you are taking the right of Americans to invest in diamonds and whatever other minerals are mostly outside of the US.
I seriously cant wrap my head around this proposal. What kind of conservatives begs for more government?..
Trump owns property outside the USA. Should those countries confiscate it? Should Melania's properties be confiscated as well. At this point I would call this radical nationalism. If you look at this proposal from the govenrment vs free market point of view, im sure you would notice you are asking for more government and less freedom.
You would be taking the freedoms of Americans to diversify and not depend on 1 economy. You would be taking the whole worlds freedom to do that. For what benefit?
China doesn't allow us to do shit. You want to do business in China? tough shit, you have to go through a third party chinese company. that's why tencent is so huge and so many video games have completely separate chinese clients.
So should China confiscate all property in China owned by Americas?

"Should China stop siphoning wealth from our economy and force our businesses to come back to the US?"
Yes please, that would be fantastic.

Why? Your opinion is wrong, but I would like to know your thought process still.
People can have businesses all over the world without actually owning any land or property.

Foreigners aren’t allowed to buy property to rent in China, so this would be reciprocal.
