more like someone takes 25% of your money and gives 2% back to someone else that paid nothing.

I still think its a good idea regardless or the meme value it generates

The real question is how you can profit off $300b in $1-3k checks, its not like everyone is going to buy stock with it like they probably should.

Nah, they are gonna go buy bs to relieve the depression they have caused by the lockdown - but I'll be great for the economy, especially if they spend locally, and don't buy shit from China owned businesses.

Good grief, dude. They closed some stores for a couple weeks, produced some needed medical supplies, and gave people an advance on a tax credit they were going to get anyway next year. It's not the end of the Republic.

2

WEWLADSDALWEW 1 point ago +1 / -0

But it doesn't "end" those things. I think you're right to be suspicious and concerned, but these haven't ended. We're in an extraordinary situation. It's only been two weeks. Even if it ends up being two months...that's really a blip on the radar. If they're still doing this stuff when the virus threat has passed, I'll be right here with you, but as of yet, I think it's a little premature to be talking about the total collapse of the American way.

Only 25%? Well gather 'round, folks, and let me tell you a tale of a place called Canada, where we lose 50-60% of our income to tax, then are told we can't work, then are given $3.7b CAD in relief, AND THE PEOPLE REJOICE.

What they don't realize is Canada is going to want to replenish that $3.7b right away and will raise taxes even further to do it. I'm seriously considering moving to the USA and bringing my business down there when the borders open up. Canada has beautiful nature but terrible policy.

1
inspir3dgenius 1 point ago +1 / -0

You're not wrong about people electing governments, but we have zero say in who our national party representatives are. The political parties choose their leaders, we only vote for the party we want in our local area. If enough of that party wins enough areas, their leader is now Prime Minister, which is one reason Trudeau got in even after the SNC Lavalin scandal.

Michigan is practically Canada, especially northern LP / UP, and we need all the pedes we can get.

Progressive policies apply, but not to the same degree. Might be a soft landing?

5
inspir3dgenius 5 points ago +5 / -0

I once met a couple from Michigan over a bowl of clam chowder in Seattle. They seemed very nice, almost Canadian.

Can I exercise 2A there? What are taxes like? How is it to run a business? Is pot legal there? I WANT TO WEAR A SPACE FORCE HAT!

5
Ithrowawaay 5 points ago +5 / -0

Open carry state, very much 2A. Taxes on par with Rust belt, not the lowest in the nation, though. Legal weed, starting a second business as we speak. father ran his own business for 25 years. state and fed never stop finding ways to get their hands in your pocket, but pretty typical. Think income/tax rates for the state are roughly 10-12%.

Come on down! And from Detroit you can look south to CA!

2
inspir3dgenius 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not bad! I will seriously consider MI, I was for some reason under the impression that it was a blue state and thus a democrat shithole where I pay all the money and receive none of the benefit. I am gladdened to know this is not the case. I have family in Windsor, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to live in Detroit. Any other recommended cities/counties in MI?

2
Ithrowawaay 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s a swing state, by no means decidedly blue.

I wouldn’t recommend Detroit either, just a fun little anecdote that you can look south to Canada, eh?

The further away from Detroit you go, the more red it gets. Aside from maybe Lansing. Grand Rapids is streaked with blue, but most business there posted up shop because detroit was too blue.

Avoid Detroit and Ann Arbor, and that makes up 80%+ of lefties* here.

Are you looking for more rural, suburban or urban?

And without getting too specific, what line of business are you in?

Also: hockey rinks per capita is a nice little reminder of home.

2
inspir3dgenius 2 points ago +2 / -0

This makes MI sound more and more appealing. Seems like Canada with less cuckery.

I've always lived urban, though I wouldn't mind rural as long as I could have at least one office in a city. I need some bustle for my hustle sometimes. Suburban always makes me think of entitled brats who are way too sheltered from reality, so I generally try to stay away from there.

As for what line of business, I'm doing e-commerce for artisans, beginning with blacksmiths. I know a fair bit about running a 3D printing business so I will be building my second one within 4 years as well. How does the state treat manufacturers?

An aside: Not really a huge fan of hockey. Love fresh maple syrup as much as the next Canadian as well as grew up hunting deer, duck, goose, and rabbit (yet to hunt moose even though it is delicious). Putting gravy and cheese curds on fries is delicious. American friends tell me they never hear anyone say "eh" as much as I do even though it only comes out once in a blue moon. I believe in self-sufficiency through trade in primary industry being the backbone of any society with natural resources. But hockey is only of mild entertainment value to me. I know I'll catch flak for this but I much prefer CFL even though it is becoming more cucked (read: fixed) every year.

Michigan sounds great. What's their stance on crypto?

2
Ithrowawaay 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not sure on crypto- as I’ve never dabbled. But in terms of hunting, you’d be right at home. Moose is protected, but pretty much everything else worth filling your freezer with, is on the menu. Large hunting population, and no shortage of mossy oak. Fishing is also exceptional.

No worries on hockey- just a product of proximity from the mitten to Canada.

I’ve been told I sound Canadian and it gets more pronounced the closer I am to the rink locker room or upper peninsula. Especially fond of the “eh” and the “bud”.

Grew up watching Mr. Dressup on CBC, and caught hockey night in Canada with Grapes often. Nice little product of sharing a north and east border.

In terms of manufacturing, that’s in MI’s blood. Environmental regs have changed with the times a bit, but the desire to produce has not wavered since the glory days of the Motor City and WW2.

I’m thinking you’d be right at home either close to Grand Rapids/western side of the state for more urban, or UP in Marquette for artisan commerce with a more rural vibe.

Smaller towns in northern lower peninsula, but charming in their own right and great for a weekend snow mobile trip or rip on the boat.

ORV trails are exquisite, some of the best in the country, what we lack in elevation we make up for in maintenance and quantity.

Folks have a cottage outside Petoskey, I can get anywhere on my dirt bike in the northern mitten without ever traversing a public highway. It’s pretty awesome.

In general the state is very dedicated to outdoor recreating, and has never lost sight of that, despite Detroit’s lack of understanding what MIchigans beauty and coastlines have to offer

MagnanimousDonkey 3 points ago +3 / -0

Texas has what you need, fren. 0% state income tax, very good business incentives, castle doctrine (2A stuff), and considering all the Commiefornians being imported we could use more Pedes.

2
RegularAmerican 2 points ago +3 / -1

Alot of those Californians are taxpaying pedes. Now your southern border counties form a solid blue wall of its own. I wonder why?

1
inspir3dgenius 1 point ago +1 / -0

Texas is one of my top choices for the reasons you've listed. How do they manage to go on with 0% state income tax? I'm coming from a place where NOTHING is not taxed at least once, so I'm genuinely curious how that works.

2
Shamb3 2 points ago +2 / -0

It is hard to find outdoor shooting ranges (over 50 Yards) in parts of south east Michigan though without being a member of a club that requires you to work there some.

2
Isolated_Patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Got stuck in michigan for the summer of 2015. Lot of great people there. Shittiest roads in the entire country though.

Just stay far, far away from Detroit at all costs.

Drove through the upper peninsula in 2017 too, absolutely beautiful place.

5
Fizbin7 5 points ago +5 / -0

It's not really only 25%. It's 25% in federal income tax, and 15.3% in federal payroll taxes, and an average of 4% in state income taxes, and an average of 6% in state and local sales taxes, and excise taxes on gasoline, and property tax for anyone who owns, or that bundled into rent for anyone who doesn't, and ---

Upper middle class Americans and upward pay about 50% of their income in taxes, and other middle class Americans pay about 33% of their income in taxes. The sainted poor pay nothing in income taxes - half of all filers - but do pay payroll if employed and sales when they eat and so forth, for maybe 15% total.

I was pretty butthurt as well, but did some mental gymnastics so the bitterness doesn't give me more wrinkles. The welfare crowd will buy lobsters, beer, and TV's with their 5 grand, so it will go back into the economy. Maybe some drugs here and there, but they mostly blow money on shit like leasing a sports car and driving it until it's repoed.

I'm sticking my $1200 into my savings account, so not doing my part to stimulate the economy.

15
Deplorable_Badger 15 points ago +15 / -0

Taxation is theft.

2
The_VeryStableGenius 2 points ago +2 / -0

If we were all stolen from equally, it wouldn't be egregious. But when you take more from some so you can GIVE to others, that's way out of line.

1
OhGonzo 1 point ago +1 / -0

So how is the government supposed to do anything if all taxation is theft?

14
Keiichi81 14 points ago +14 / -0

Imagine how stimulated we'd be if we got to keep 100% of our money.

13
Ebbie8708 13 points ago +13 / -0

No shit. I got my yearly bonus. 32% goddamn of it went to taxes. I normally only pay 25% of my check towards taxes. Fuckers

7
BTFO 7 points ago +7 / -0

Income tax is a joke. Insane taxes on yearly bonuses/sign-on bonuses and overtime is even more of a joke. It's all theft.

12
Konsaki 12 points ago +13 / -1

The 2% isn't the money they took from you, at all!

The Reserve is printing NEW money, which devalues the 75% you have left!

THEN, the government gives you $1200 which may or may not even get you back up to the 75% mark, depending on how much you actually make!

5
FuzzyPickle 5 points ago +5 / -0

This really pisses me off. Inflation, redistribution, all of it!

2
anonanomous 2 points ago +2 / -0

Inflation is taking money from me. But yes your point is accurate. It’s not your same dollar coming back. It’s the future dollar that belongs to your children that they are stealing from to fill your pocket today.

9
Based_and_proud 9 points ago +12 / -3

Now make that 25% say 38% and make that 2% say zero. Donald lost some of my support.

0
anonanomous 0 points ago +4 / -4

Trump didn’t enact these taxes you idiot. Grow the fuck up. You can’t be in the 38% tax bracket and be that stupid can you?

The fact that a lot of people are getting some % back is basically Trump saying “if we lower taxes we can survive and thrive better” - the precedent set is what matters. So if this is successful it says something about taxes. The OP post is about “hey look the more money people keep from their hard work the easier it is for them to survive a crisis”.

You basically said “Donald” lost some support from you because he effectively lowered taxes on a lot of people.

To that I say gtfo, cuck.

3
Based_and_proud 3 points ago +4 / -1

And if you think this stimulus is anything but a redistribution of wealth from those that earned it to those that haven't then you're the "cuck". This stimulus is the definitely of socialism asshat.

4
Konsaki 4 points ago +4 / -0

You're both wrong, because this 'stimulus' isn't coming from taxes at all! The Fed is devaluing the dollar by printing new money and flooding it into the market, which means the 75% (or whatever) you have left after taxes is worth even less due to the sudden inflation.

1
anonanomous 1 point ago +1 / -0

More than one thing is intertwined. It is many things, however at its core is people have some of their money back. Only those who had such a low income that they never paid $1200 in taxes in their entire life are not seeing a tax reduction and are having wealth 'redistributed' to them. By, I would mention, all the people who have ever worked. Not just you. Not just wealthy people. There's no 'share' of the government honey pot that is allocated from any one of us.

Not to mention all the future taxes everyone will pay; your point about it being redistribution fails unless the vast majority of people receiving this money have never been, and will never, pay more than $1200 in taxes in their entire life. You're an idiot.

1
Based_and_proud 1 point ago +1 / -0

Taking money from one person and giving it to another person is redistribution. It's pretty simple. Take it in the past, take it now, or take it later... All the same. Since more than 40% of Americans didn't pay taxes last year but will still get a check, I think you should be able to see how this isn't a fiscally conservative or fair stimulus. You seem to just want to say random things and call me an idiot though.

1
anonanomous 1 point ago +1 / -0

I guess you fail to understand that every single person pays some form of taxes in excess of $1200 over their entire life. You’re an idiot for thinking it is redistribution like it comes out of someone’s pocket and not everyone’s pocket. The reality is money back to people’s pockets is a tax reduction.

If you paid $1000 in tax so far because you’re 18, does not mean that you’re not going to have paid $200k+ in tax by the time you’re 65.

If you’re older and making more money right now congrats. You’ve already paid maybe $100k in tax and getting 1.2% of that back is a tax reduction you annual-minded idiot.

The gov printing money steals money from the future workforce to pay debts today. Inflation is the problem here. Regardless of that this is in any way you look at it a tax reduction. It’s just too complex for people who obsess over their yearly return to figure out I guess. The same people who lose confidence in Trump over fucking taxes which were never signed by him that he cannot his eliminate and it’s up to you to petition congress to change. So If it matters to you do something about it don’t sling cuckoldry because you feel like Trump should have somehow prevented tax policy from before he was president.

1
Based_and_proud 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sure. Except not everyone is getting a check. The ones not getting a check paid significantly more into the system than the ones that are. That's redistributing my wealth to someone that through taxation.

1
anonanomous 1 point ago +1 / -0

Only if you’re pea brained enough to think you’re more entitled to that money than they are. You’re thinking that by paying more total you’re somehow giving the poor people their own money back. Like you’re some fucking saint. When instead you’re trash. It’s not your money they are receiving. It is their own - or their children’s money borrowed against them with inflation.

An entitled brat and an idiot.

If you do not get a tax reduction with this check then again, do something about it, cuck, instead of saying you lose faith in ‘Donald’. And saying that people who earn less are somehow not as worthy of receiving their now money back. That you had something to do with it. So dumb.

Guys, I get that you're salty about having tax money "redistributed" to the masses but this is a one time thing for a very specific purpose in a very specific situation.

It's essentially economic first-aid on a traumatized economy. If you break your leg, you don't complain about having to shell out for medical treatment, right? (Well, if you're a lib-dem you do, but that's not us.)

I paid $37k in taxes last year. That’s only including income tax.

I am getting a $0 stimulus check.

This place is for supporting Trump, not mocking the actions hes taking in the interests of preventing another great depression.

Sorry if we feel the democrats have had so much leverage for the biggest socialist bill in the history of the World.

Any comment that ive made that says this bill was crap was pretty much deleted. Definitely not happy right now, I wonder what the admins are trying to do. Are we supporters not allowed to guide the president? Can we not ask that he be better directed? We all know that theres a boatload of deep state in Washington, can it be that he's getting advice from people that don't have this countries best interest in mind? I trust more the people in this forum more than the people in Washington my friends lets not self censor because we are the trump supporters and we have an obligation to help him

Lol. Yuck. Confirmation Bias Zone. We blast liberals for such groupthink.

Now it’s anti-Trump calling out this BULLSHIT stimulus?

We fight our whole lives getting folks like Massie in. Someone with a fucking engineering degree not some bullshit lawyer shit. And what do we do? We waste it. Waste it a pork-loaded Bill.

Who is this good for? How long? How many checks? When do you go back to work? When do we get time off since we’re the only ones working??
