No -- Cali is very valuable property,
costal beauty, great climate for farming -- just evict the bums and pressure wash it edge to edge.... But never give up a square inch of American territory
Also there are literally MILLIONS of good solid conservatives here. We don't have a voice, because we're continually outvoted/cheated by liberals - but we are here.
No. CA is a beautiful state. Maybe just a big tsunami that comes in and washes away all the coastal leftists should do it. Leave all the based people in the Central Valley, northern and mountain areas to take it over.
One solution (already done by President Bill Clinton in Utah): declare the entire coast and 20 miles inland a national preserve. Current residents have life lease, but no new property ownership.
I live here but if that is what it takes to reduce progressivism, I'll take whatever hardship comes this way. I don't like all the people that are encouraging more government intervention and suspension of freedoms.
I used to hate when people said "security theater"after 9/11
But what we have been doing has been quarantine theater
It makes no sense to have people in clean parts of the country not working and confined to their homes while people from the hotspots spread the disease throughout the country.
If quarantining people into a geographic area is a violation of their rights it's no more a violation of their rights than what is being done closing businesses and enforcing stay at home rules.
Tha
There had been
an approach that has all of the cost with none of the benefit.
The reason we have been doing what we have been doing is political not Medical
DeSantis isn't "whining", he and we Floridians are pissed. Over one million New Yorkers fled the State, mainly the City, and the number one destination has been Florida.
And if heat really does slow the coronavirus, Florida is in a good place. It's hot this spring! Next 4-5 days it will reach the lower or mid 90's in Central Florida.
They should be pissed...not just because some of those NYers may be carriers, but because traffic is about to get much worse and the amount of bitching about "rednecks" and "i like X better in NY" will go up about 10000%.
EDIT: Oh and also "wow, things are so much cheaper here...I think I'll stay and vote Democrat."
As someone else mentioned, warmer climate alone doesn't stop Wuhan virus from spreading and killing people. I'd be very interested in studying the effects of sunbathing though! Several hours, many days in a row. Not to get a good early season base tan, although it would do that too. It might boost our immune system so much the virus doesn't stand a chance? We lose the ability to create vitamin D via exposure to sunlight with age. Vitamin D is a key component of our immune system. Who knows what else sunlight does? Sunlight is magic. A well designed test might show 25-50% reduction in infection and also that much reduction of symptoms in the already infected? Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Can't believe New Yorkers would be so irresponsible as to flee, except - of course they would. New Yorkers gonna New York.
There is some reason to think the virus doesn't like hot steamy weather. In those areas where it's humid as well as hot, it would be interesting to see if the spread begins to slow.
I have read this too. In my experience extraordinarily low humidity is good for my health, while high humidity damn near kills me. My bias is to expect our arid west to be a good area to recover, but yes it will be good to have data on this variable.
Also, a pallet of goods in cardboard boxes, will direct sunlight reduce the time this virus can live on the surface?
If we aren't careful we might just reinfect everybody simply from cargo.
I really like the idea of everybody having a supply of HCQ
Heat doesn't slow COVID-19 it seems, based on the fact it's spreading like crazy in areas in southern hemisphere that's already hot summer. Could be wrong, but that's what I heard from a couple sources.
My sister is a doctor in one of the Miami hospitals and is working in the COVID unit.
They have a surge mostly from the NYers that came down even after they were told by their doctors in NY to quarantine while they wait for their COVID results. Instead, they drove or flew to FL. Then, when results were positive their doctors in NY told them to report to the ER of local hospitals. So they just waltzed in to hospital, not giving a shit about anyone else.
Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is also getting the cruise ship passengers where S. America and the Carribean refused to let them entry.
She tells me everyday how bad it is. She does not have proper PPE. Has to wipe her equipment down each day and place it in a baggie in the COVID unit because it is all the hospital has. Yet, one hospital in NY is going through 77,000 masks per day. WTF.
None of this is constitutional. I don’t give a shit, this is America. Imagine if the colonists just stayed inside because people might die? That should have just surrendered to Germany in WW2 it would have saved lives.
Freedom isn’t free you pussies, every liberty you give up today is gone forever. Have fun explaining to your kids when Mark Zuckerberg is telling them when and how often they’re allowed to play with their friends.
Rights can be suspended for a definite period of time with habeas corpus.
Did the colonists stay inside because of the threat of things like yellow fever and the other very real contagions that swept through cities regularly? No. Without refrigeration, modern vaccines, and remote delivery, people would die if kept inside. Instead, they banned people from coming in and from leaving. There is precedent.
You may not like it and it leads down the slippery slope, but yes you can be forcibly quarantined. It's in the same vein as national security.
Because the health of a nation is national security. Keep the citiots in the cities and let the rest of us form herd immunity, take chloroquine as a prophylactic, and get this economy going again.
NYC can catch up to the rest of us when it burns out. Just like yellow fever in the colonial period.
You know they’re talking about may or June to start opening back up right? How many people are gonna sit there with no income or food for 2 more months? The shit show hasn’t even started yet.
The question/comment regarded constitutionality. The point is, incoming riots, chaos, etc., the quarantine would be constitutional.
In terms of the incoming chaos you mentioned, I agree with you entirely; however, that is a practical matter to be considered along with constitutionality. In fact the practice model was already tried in New Rochelle with the Guard. The government is always 2 to 3 steps ahead of our civil liberties.
The right to peacefully assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Does the first amendment invalidate all public health laws? Interesting topic. I'll have to delve deeper into this when I have time.
Powers must be explicitly granted to the government; unlike almost every country in the world, we're running a whitelist, not a blacklist, at least in theory.
You could end up killing someone by not knowing you’re carrying the virus and spreading it to a person who could have a critical reaction. Most likely somebody you’re close to.
If you’re fine living with that then nobody is stopping you from doing what you want, just keep in mind the longer you do that then the longer this plays out for all of us.
This applies to every day life. You can accidentally kill someone a million different ways, you don’t sacrifice your job and ability to feed your family over it
Watch for the numbers coming out of those areas to suddenly get a lot better. Citizens will not like this at all and their leadership will probably do all they can to avoid it.
Better? Infections are skyrocketing in FL, deaths are increasing too. It's spreading and now we know why. NY certainly hasn't turned the corner on this for the better. What areas do you refer to?
6 days or less and virus free, yes. Which is why the NY Governor has decided to deprive infected people in NY of it, even though the lion's share of it in the whole Country is there.
To get it in NY you have to be hospitalized, at risk of dying, AND lucky enough to be the 1/2 of a clinical trial of it that isn't getting a placebo.
Probably the most outside of Texas and Florida, we just get drowned out by the voter fraud and illegal aliens. If you haven't noticed, CA leadership is the tip of the anti-Trump spear. The last 3.5 years have basically been California trying to overthrow the Federal Government, and the Federal Government needs to fight back.
I kid. We love our CA pedes. I love my Sister in CA, even though she's a dumbass. Separately, she's become a liberal since moving there 30 some years ago. (Hopefully not a leftist) Makes it a lot harder to still love her, but I manage.
Fighting voter fraud in the whole Country is priority #1. Maybe that would turn CA around? At least in some areas?
Plus all the leftist and media douches in NYC reeeing over this will provide endless entertainment. Trump can just tell them, "oh you like China's handling of the crisis, let's give you a taste of that in NYC".
Unfortunately there are about 6 counties in NJ with a lot of people who commute into NYC and as a result those counties now all have high infection rates. Same goes for counties in NY and CT.
The entire NYC metro area needs to be quarantined, but I agree, it should not be entire states.
I live in upstate NY we have a few counties with 100+ cases but most of the counties with farm land such as my own have less than 6. So I hope we don't get quarantined because of the shithole city. Would be the perfect time to divide NYS into autonomous regions
Most of the Country geographically speaking has Counties with 0 infections as the largest number. The second highest category is Counties with 1-4 infected people.
Give them a chance to get better! Realize how selfish and irresponsible you're being! NY State is HUGE, what is so important about leaving that it's worth spreading it to areas that literally have 0 infections?
Same goes for NJ. Not huge obviously, but still lots of really cool and beautiful places, with wonderful variety. Lock it down at the State border. This is not forever. HCQ has been donated by the millions, domestic production in WV has restarted and is scheduled to ship by late April.
We can turn this thing around, beat it, and get medicine to everybody that makes it no worse than a bad flu for 6 days. No dying, not even any side effects. Maybe we even develop herd immunity?
NY got most of the initial millions of doses of HCQ. Obviously Cuomo is hoarding it rather than using it. Just like ventilators. Keep your infections there! It'll be longer before us in rural areas of the Country have any substantial supply of HCQ.
Have a little respect for the rest of the Country!
It would make more sense to quarantine the hot zones like New York metro and start opening the rest of the country for business. I would even be in favor of increased aid for the areas that have to be quarantined if that allows the rest of the country to return to a degree of normalcy.
There's a huge hot spot in Ocean County NJ. One town with 236 cases as of yesterday. The people there will not stop congregating in large groups, they travel from NJ to NY like most people visit nearby towns. Surrounding towns are suffering because of these morons. Quarantine them, and the number of new cases will fall dramatically.
This is correct. This area is all Hasidic Jews. I have been unable to find a good article online to show this, maybe somebody can help. When I search, I just find articles about anti-semetism being prevalent. But talking to friends there, they say it is all because of the Orthodox Jews and their practices and disregard for avoiding gatherings.
Look up Lakewood, NJ. Big problem. Lots of Hasidic Jews who think they can do whatever they want. Not sure why they have to be so fucking defiant, but defiant they are..
FYI, Jersey pede here (yeah, I know -- user name doesn't check out -- originally from Massastupitts).
Not sure if this is what you’re looking for. I noticed these 2 articles in the last couple of days. One is about Jewish in NJ and the second claiming that the death rate among British Jews is high as ell.
This is strange. With all the health concerns addressed effectively in the law of Moses, they should be especially keen to observe common sense precautions that limit the spread of infectious disease. They should be eager to sacrifice for the benefit of their fellow man i.e. neighboring towns, States, the rest of the Country.
If they want to gather in large numbers for corporate worship despite making their own sick, at least self-contain. This is just common courtesy.
Now I'm worried about the Amish communities out here. No known large outbreaks yet, maybe only because of no testing. Will they be equally irresponsible?
I don't understand this either, but they kept their own schools open at least a week, maybe two, after the public schools shut down. I don't think it's the entire community who are breaking the laws, but apparently enough people are so that they have, at last count 236 cases within one town.
As for the Amish, aren't they kind of self quarantined anyway? As far as I know they don't really mix with other people that much, they don't travel much. I'd say they're pretty low risk. They also tend to obey the law.
Same with Kiryas Joel/Palm Tree NY. This is a map of Orange County, NY case totals as of yesterday. Notice Palm Tree, a town that is approximately 1 sq mile with a population of 35,000 people. I live in a neighboring town, the people in KJ (Palm Tree) are the same as the people causing the problem in Lakewood, NJ. I can 100000% vouch for members of these communities (as well as Monsey, New Square, Bloomingburg, and Williamsburg and Crown Hts Brooklyn) being morons, and quite frankly, assholes in most cases. This is something you have to see in person to truly believe, but these communities and their upper leadership of rabbis are some of the most corrupt organizations to ever exist, easily giving the Dems a run for their money. In KJ, the people vote according to who their top rabbi chooses. Therefore, in order to get 35,000 votes in Orange County, politicians often kiss the ass of KJ (and the other communities mentioned) because if they remain in good graces, there is a massive voter bloc to pay them off. If you oppose them for any reason, you are automatically anti-Semitic whether you mentioned religion or not. Here is an example of this in action, their town wanted to annex 500 acres from a regular town a few years ago, the locals STRONGLY opposed it, there were bills worked on by the NY legislature to control the annexation process, and Cuomo vetoed them, surprisingly a few days later, $250K landed in his campaign account. In fact, the OC NY executive has been pushing for a quarantine of KJ since last week. King Andy hasn't even mentioned it.
There is a lot to see here, if you are interested here are a few more articles describing this cult and their DEEP corruption:
Absolutely spot on. The police are still busting up weddings in Lakewood. That's why their numbers are through the roof compared to the rest of Ocean County. We're in NJ, but way south of Philly -- very rural, very few cases thank God.
Lakewood. Now also Jackson and Toms River where Hasidim have spread out to. Lakewood had 236 as of Friday, Jackson 57 and Toms River 69. By Monday I'm sure those numbers will be much higher. Lakewood went from 144 to 236 in one day.
Thank you for the info. I will not chop off the feet of the messenger. My heart is heavy for this area.
My County here in WI, which has vastly more land area than LBI, more than 20 miles per side so more than 400 square miles, has 30 some cases. High for WI. Without spring break transmitting it from NY NJ and CT via FL, we'd probably have less than 5 like most other WI counties. Actually most have 0, but we wouldn't be that good anyway. West from here and it's like that all the way to the left coast.
How are you going to do it less than the whole State? And people in NJ commute to the city all the way from the Delaware water gap. You can make the trip on I-80 in about 45 minutes. CT maybe has less long distance commuting, but again how do you lock it down less than the whole State? Practical solutions please.
The list of quarantinable diseases is contained in an Executive Order of the President and includes cholera, diphtheria, infectious tuberculosis, plague, smallpox, yellow fever, viral hemorrhagic fevers(such as Marburg, Ebola, and Congo-Crimean), and severe acute respiratory syndromes.
Fuck that. Quarantine the State borders. Can't separate the tri-state metro area, it's all basically NYC.
I know the rural areas of NJ well. I sympathize, but there's simply no other way of doing it. Lock it down. Many live in those areas and commute to the city. Equally impossible to stop the spread throughout CT. Locking down its border to RI has apparently already started. Look at the numbers for MA and obviously they've made no attempt to do this at their border with CT. Will it spread just as bad through VT NH and ME? Hopefully the low population density means no. Hope is not a strategy.
It's not cruel and unusual punishment to be confined within NJ State lines. Lots of area to enjoy! Have a heart. The rest of the Country needs you to be responsible. Spring breakers from your area have already brought it to FL, and from there it made it to my County in WI. We have 30+ cases in my County, whereas most WI Counties are still 0. The second most number of cases is WI Counties with 1-4.
These numbers hold true from here all the way to the left coast. Just a few population centers that have more. For example Iowa has 0 dead. 6 Counties with 5 or more infected people.
Stop spreading it! Give us time to get these people better. Let's beat this, please.
Sure. And I have no idea how many from there commute into the metro Philly area. Surely allowances will be made for interstate commuters, but that's also a major vector for spreading this highly contagious disease.
Locking down State lines is the only sensible thing to do. There's no other way to contain the Nation's #1 hotspot which still has 1/2 the cases in the whole Country.
Isn't that what South Korea did? No need to pull the plug on the entire economy. Just isolate the serious cases, and move on. This thing has been on the loose in China since November, and maybe that's why quarantining entire provinces didn't do anything. It had already spread to the rest of the country, and the rest of the world, by that time.
You realize it's not that simple right? Unless you managed to keep all New Yorkers, friends of New Yorkers, and friends of FRIENDS of New Yorkers entirely locked in place, the virus will spread everywhere. The transmission rate is three times higher than the seasonal flu. If you hear of one case in your area, assume three more are infected and they don't know it.
NYC shouldve been quarantined completely in March but Cuomo was too much of a faggot because he complained about the same "violation of freedom" and that "the panic of the virus is worse than the virus itself". He was wrong, and now people are dying.
The same shit will follow for everywhere in the US that thinks quarantine isn't necessary for their community. It may be perceived as a grab on freedom, and it is, but the invisible Chinese-made enemy doesn't give two fucks if you're "free" to carry on with your daily routine or not.
Over half of the US will get infected, they key is to do it slowly and not fuck around letting it all happen at once. Take this shit seriously pede.
We've been self-isolating. None of the task force guidelines carry the force of law. This is an extreme measure that should be strictly scrutinized and as narrowly tailored as possible, unlike the heavy-handed universal approach some leaders are taking where the data doesn't support such a drastic response.
Meanwhile leftists call Trump a dictator when he's actually been trying as hard as he can NOT to act like a dictator.... delayed invoking the DPA, refusing national lockdown, etc
In order to know how to properly plan for this they need a baseline measurement to know how far the virus has spread. 15 days should be one day past the maximum incubation period for the virus, so anyone now showing symptoms should be self-isolating and taking all the precautions. Plus they haven’t spread it to more people.
Once they get this baseline then they can make better decisions on where the disease may pop up, and under what conditions, so a large portion of the country can safely return to work.
That seems to be the plan they’re working on anyway. The President said he’ll most likely have a decision on Tuesday, since Monday is the last day of the initial phase of the plan.
Quarantine and lockdown are two different things as I understand it.
Lockdown basically means you need to stay home and only go out for essentials, but you still have some basic freedom of movement in your local area.
Quarantine means you cannot leave the area, so if NYC has a high infection rate, don't allow people to leave NYC and carry the virus to other parts of the country.
Yea quarantine means no one in and no one out without proper permissions. Honestly, I don't think it will do much good. It's already pretty much everywhere. Just be smart people
Same for NJ and CT! Utterly impossible to separate these 3 States. The NYC greater metropolitan area includes all 3, and huge numbers of people commute from much of NJ and CT to NYC. No way to contain that except by isolating these 3 States as a group.
Within those States they can try to limit the spread into their more rural areas, but they still have more infections there than the rest of the Country. Seal those State borders!
True! And long distance commute from CT to work in NYC isn't nearly as prevalent as it is in NJ. But where do you make the cutoff point and still effectively reduce the spread?
State lines seem the only practical way of going about it to me.
You're just being mean. And stupid. Nobody ever moved? Ever?
I was born in NJ and lived there for many years. I know most of the State pretty well. There is LOTS of farmland, including the NW of the State which is a beautiful area. Its not called the Garden State for nothing.
Pine barrens too. I've gone camping there. I've sailed the whole coast, including through OPSail '76.
POTUS has authority to seal State lines. If you're not commuting to PA, why would you care? And those that are commuting to PA as a lot of NJ residents do, I would expect exceptions to be made because POTUS is a smart man. No way to just seal off partial areas of States though, nor do we have resources to prevent those infected from crossing State lines while letting everyone else go. Of course that would be the preference.
These restrictions should be able to be removed before Memorial Day, so they wouldn't even affect anybody's summer plans. Let's ALL have a great summer! Cheap gas, every place will be super clean. The rest of the Country can't do that if people from NY NJ and CT keep infecting the rest of the Country.
Same in my corner of Western PA. A week or two ago it was a ghost town but the amount of traffic and people out on foot is beginning to look like normal. Except of course for 90% of the businesses being shuttered.
We are in a pseudo-quarantine. You won’t get federal charges for being out and about. Not sure what his regional quarantine means, but I’d assume it has actual teeth.
Jersey City imposed a curfew on Bars at 10PM on Thursday 3/12, while NYC kept theirs open over the subsequent weekend. BDB and Cuomo are to blame for NYC rapid spread, they made some awful decisions leading up to this mess.
I think they only got a summons. Same group is still congregating in large groups and basically thumbing their nose at law enforcement. Our idiot governor Murphy is encouraging their behavior by warning other NJ residents not to be Anti-Semitic. Seriously.
Isn't there a rule of no gatherings greater than 10 in NJ? I don't know what the consequences of breaking that rule are. Would they be able to have guests attend virtually? They have been disbanding Weddings in the Hasidic areas of Brooklyn too.
I live on Long Island, I'm furious Cuomo didn't cut off the city like a month ago. NY politicians always cater to the city, and you can see this with how long it took NYC to close schools and how the fucking MTA is still running full time and hasn't even cut their schedule yet.
I lived there for 5 years. It was ridiculous how many liberals said I was their “conservative friend” in order for them to try and appear open minded to other liberals.
Anyway, it was so easy to piss them off if you wanted to have a discussion. I don’t miss that place at all, but I do miss the food and spring nights on restaurant patios.
NJ resident as well. I need more details of the quarantine before I agree this is the move. Is it just restricting access in/out? Will there be a predetermined time frame? Or will more measures be placed as well? I’m on the fence pede. All in all I just want this shit over with, and if trump and his advisors think this is the best move, then let’s hunker down.
there is no legal basis or precedent to shut down a whole community. Presidential authority can shut down State borders for purposes of quarantine. There is no predetermined timeframe, although the 2 week incubation period is a significant factor.
None of this affects life's necessities; you can still grocery shop, go to the Dr. Some places are restricting going out for a walk, which I think is bs. Easy to keep 10 ft away from anyone.
I've been studying maps by County. Here in WI and west til you get to the left coast, the single largest number of infections by County is 0. That's right, most of the Country geographically speaking has not one person that's tested positive! The second highest category is Counties with 1-4 infections. Shouldn't be hard to get those people better, especially once we get some HCQ which is currently being hoarded in NY. Cuomo is denying its use to infected people unless they're hospitalized and part of a study, which might mean half of them are on a placebo.
Thank you for your responsible consideration of all the available info. I'm not sure how effective State measures can be to stop the spread into rural areas? I think it's worth trying.
We should be able to responsibly get much of the Country open for business soon. That will greatly mitigate further economic damage. Not continuing to spread the infection is the bare minimum. If we could get a supply of 9 HCQ pills to every man woman and child in the US this would basically just be a bad flu it takes 6 days to get over, but no deaths or side effects. Everybody could go back to work except those in high risk groups might want to continue to self isolate. If we didn't give any HCQ to those in flyover country we might be able to do this with as few as 2 billion pills of HCQ. We don't have nearly that many. Millions have been donated to US, domestic production is re-started in WV with product scheduled to be shipped by late April.
I meant more that ventilators are harder to produce, deploy, use, etc. The left and MSM don't want an easy solution. They want us all locked down, obedient, force vaxxed, and tagged.
hope you're still getting a paycheck during all this. luckily I am but the longer this goes on the more businesses are going to close or lay people off to cut expenses and not just the people who work at minimum wage jobs. what happened to "the cure cant be worse than the disease"?
Sounds sensible to me! Except, how would this be monitored? If anybody so quarantined were tested twice, once upon entering on the first day and sent back with a positive test, the rest tested 14 days later and allowed to pass if still negative - we just don't have resources to do that.
Lock down the State lines is the only practical means I see
Everyone's is! Lol. There's no way to accomplish it though. We're quasi putting everyone through a 15 day quarantine which will be complete this Monday morning ...
careful, saying something like this will get you labeled a "concern troll" and unleash a torrent of downvotes from people who get to live in red states not currently locked down. why those of us who support the guy cant once in a while disagree with him on something, even strongly, without getting hate on here is beyond me. it's not concern trolling, it's legit taking issue with something because you're in the affected group. all I want is to be able to just go back to my normal life, come and go as I please and not worry that some government decree says I cant go out unless its deemed an "essential reason".
I agree. New Jersey is two separate states. I live way down here, 40 minutes south of Philly in the farm land, and compared to Bergen county it might as well be Iowa. There's a reason it's the garden state. You can't treat it as a single entity.
this is unfortunately gonna keep happening, even to salary workers the longer people keep shutdowns and quarantines going. businesses cant go back to normal, owners looking to "trim the fat" anyway they can just to keep from going bankrupt. the 15day thing was fine but now it's taking care of those at risk and letting the rest of us move on. we cant stay in suspended animation while this virus "runs its course"
15 days ends Monday. Everybody could responsibly go back to work with a supply of as little as 9 pills of HCQ, if we also knew enough z pack was available. I have no idea what our supply of z pack is. If we gave 0 HCQ to anyone in flyover country where there's 0 confirmed positive cases we might get by with as little as 2 billion pills of HCQ. We don't have nearly that many. We've had millions donated to the US, and domestic production has restarted in WV with product scheduled to ship by late April.
NY has most of our current supply and is hoarding it. They're prohibited from giving it to infected people unless they're at risk of death and also in the half of the clinical study not being given a placebo. Their number of infected vs dead reflects this strategy. They're down below 1% dead now, but still have nearly half the cases in the whole Country.
Sealing the State lines is the only responsible course of action, and that's meaningless unless you include NJ and CT. Maybe these 3 States can minimize the spread into their rural areas, it's certainly worth trying.
Hmm, I disagree with the idea of any quarantine. If you're old or have a condition stay home. Take some damn personal responsibility. Suspending your natural rights in the name of a temporary (if at all?) security is a slippery slope.
Sealing the State borders is the only sensible course of action, and well within the law. Shutting down even one entire community has no legal justification or precedent, and lots of legal liability.
Returning to work responsibly will be tricky if we're not given a supply of HCQ.
About 1000 confirmed positive in 1 County. That's a PROBLEM!
Glad to hear your healthcare system isn't overwhelmed. That's the whole point of all this "flatten the curve" stuff. It's working.
I agree your Governor (and my WI Governor) are being tyrants. They should be deposed like tyrants.
Opening stuff back up should be concurrent with getting people a supply of HCQ, IMHO. 15 pills is enough for both preventative use and to get you through if you do catch it. Can't we do that? If you get really sick go to Dr and get z pack and maybe a little more HCQ. I have no idea how our supply of z pack is.
I think it will be by county. And mainly Target people who are not being safe in those areas. And if you want to leave you need evidence of 15 day quarantine.
I live in the NJ county with highest number of cases. I go out of the house and am very careful so my elderly family does not have to. It is amazing the amount of people i see in stores or in gatherings.
Nobody listens to Murphy, because he has no claim to be able to care about life. Nobody listens to Cuomo for the same reasons. The average person inherently (even if subconcious) does not follow Democrats directives about life because they know they dont care about it.
Unfortunately we need the President to step in and do what Cuomo and Murphy can not accomplish. Block us off and let the country get through this.
Most people in NJ and NY are selfish douchebags anyway. I lived in Bergen County for a year after being in San Diego. Night and day difference in quality of the people.
100% they'll do whatever they want for themselves and then move into other states and fuck them up too. Pennsylvania needs a wall.
It amazes me how the area is so wealthy and the people so stupid. I am usually well behaved but when out for food and I see people wearing masks wrong or touching their face while wearing gloves, I yell at them to embarass them and say they are stealing them from people who actually need the supplies like docotors. Its quite fun to do!
I don't think they have a placebo arm? I think it's all treatment arms. The malarial drugs, the HIV drugs etc. They are bending over backwards to get something out there.
NY has most of the supply of HCQ in the nation and is hoarding it. Restricted from getting it unless you're hospitalized, at risk of dying, AND selected to the half of a clinical trial that isn't being given a placebo.
This strategy is reflected in the numbers: still almost half the cases in the whole country but deaths are now below 1% of the confirmed positive cases in NY.
Only sensible course of action in light of these facts is to seal the State borders, which necessarily has to include NJ and CT because the tri State area is impossible to control.
Please not South Jersey. They have few cases and people cross state lines to PA and DE frequently just as a normal course of life. This would be a huge disruption and cause more problems than it would solve here.
Yes. Didn't he just send a letter to the governors, like 2 days ago, instructing them to divide their states up by county - with 3 risk categories? I saw this on conservative treehouse I believe.
Leiloni Ocean County has a hotspot. More infections in one town than in all of Milwaukee. Spring breakers from NJ have already spread this to my rural area of WI. We're containing it. Most Counties from here west all the way to the left coast have 0 cases.
Please help us beat this!
NJ is only included because the NYC metro area is impossible to control. I was born in NJ and lived there for many years. I know the metro areas including Philly have massive interstate commuting and commerce. Allowances will be made.
What we mainly need is a supply of medicine to everybody. 15 pills of HCQ is enough to use both as a preventative and a cure if you get infected. That requires 5 billion. We have millions, with production restarted in WV and ready to ship in April. I have no idea how much z pack we've got but I wouldn't want to take that as a preventative measure.
NYC is a cancer and he is trying to keep it from spreading to the rest of the Country. It is not like he said up and one day said they Quarantine NYC for no reason. NYC is a shithole.
Not so bad being quarantined to having to stay within your whole STATE.
There is no legal basis or precedent to shut down even one whole community. Nobody is prevented from life's necessities; grocery shopping, going to the Dr. Some places are stopping people from even going outside for a walk, which is bs. Staying 10 feet away from anybody is easy unless you're in an urban area, which is a whole different ballgame. You should still be able to go hiking in a State Park, for example.
Well that sucks. In all 3 States? Beaches would be hard to enforce 6' spacing. Regular parks might be too? State Parks? Should be easy to do that on your own! People may congregate at a trail head or crossing. Slow you down to keep your distance. Still pretty easy to do though.
I lived in CT and my Brother has for 4 decades. Please allow me to explain why this is not bs:
most of the Country geographically speaking has 0 people tested positive in most Counties in the whole State. The second largest category is 1-4 people infected in the whole County. Please, let us heal these few people without barraging us with more infected people!
We can turn this corner very quickly throughout MOST of the Country if we just stop spreading it. NY has almost half the cases in the whole Country. The tri State metro area is impossible to control, so NJ and CT have to be lumped in with NY.
We could all go back to work safely Monday if we had 5 billion HCQ pills to give every man woman and child in the Country 15. We don't. (Assuming we have enough supply of z pack to treat all the sick) If we give 0 to those in flyover Country with 0 people tested positive and 9 to everyone else, we might be able to do that with only 2 billion. We have millions. Domestic production has restarted in WV, with product scheduled to ship in late April.
NY has most of the supply of HCQ and is hoarding it. Not even giving it to infected people unless they're hospitalized, at risk of dying, AND in the half of a clinical trial that isn't just given a placebo. In light of this, sealing the State lines is the only sensible course of action. This isn't forever. Should be over before Memorial Day. Plan roadtrips! Gas will still be cheap all summer.
Exactly, so you stay where you are. Sounds like you wouldn't be leaving CT anyway, regardless of quarantine. So why get upset over quarantine? If I hadn't had the option to go south, I'd have fully expected (and accepted) that a quarantine was coming to NY.
Dude... What the crap? Why such a hurtful response?
I'm a young freelance guy who lives alone in NYC. All my work got cancelled for the next 3 months. I stayed inside my apt for almost 2 weeks; rarely went out except for food/groceries/going for a walk. I intended to wait it out, in the city, but the cases kept piling up and more and more things were being closed down. I have clinical depression/OCD, so this was not a good situation for me.
Over that 2-week lonely period, I was getting increasingly anxious and depressed, and my parents kept asking me each day over FaceTime if I was sure I didn't want to come down and ride this crisis out with the family in FL. Eventually, after a horrible panic attack, I caved in and told them I'd like to come home. They were thrilled and relieved.
I wore a mask to the airport, on the plane, and until I got home. I didn't sit near anyone at the airport or even on the plane; no one was in my row, nor in the row in front of me or the row behind me. I've now been home at my parents' for over a week, self-isolating. I have not gone anywhere. I've been terrified of getting symptoms, both for my own sake and my family's, but my parents keep reassuring me that I took precautions and did what I was supposed to do.
Also, why would I need to "test negative" after a 14 day quarantine? You do realize they only give you a test to begin with, if you have severe symptoms. And you also realize that even if I got symptoms and was positive, I'm still doing exactly the right thing: self-isolating.
So please, tell me how I'm an "irresponsible asshole"? Spreading it "all over the country"? I wasn't aware that going straight home to stay with my family was "all over the country". What is your problem??
I read that everyone will be getting an additional $600 on top of unemployment pay every week. That is the only way I can stomach this. That plus the stimulus check is just enough to make ends meet for the month.
Impossible to "prove" unless it is monitored by health officials. Great idea but we just don't have the resources to do it.
Sealing the State borders of NY NJ and CT is the only sensible course of action. Should be able to lift those restrictions before Memorial Day so it doesn't even impact summer plans. Should be a great summer! Cheap gas, every place clean ...
Commercial vehicles can be stopped too. "Essential businesses" gets harder to define that way. Obviously I want that unrestricted. I'd like to see interstate truck drivers given priority to get HCQ right behind healthcare workers, which I hope are already on it in addition to PPE head to toe.
If the preventative benefit works then they aren't spreading it.
FOUR BRICKS! FOOOOOOOOUUUUUUR! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS CENTIPEDE IS ABOUT TO DOMINATE!!!
THAT'S 167135 BRICKS HANDED OUT!
We are at 23.5407478218641642017634080% of our goal to BUILD THE WALL starting from Imperial Beach, CA to Brownsville, Texas! Lets make sure everyone gets a brick in the United States! For every Centipede a brick, for every brick a Centipede!
At this rate, the wall will be 1837.82379793207793732144620 MILES WIDE and 489.796474760597558589856095 FEET HIGH by tomorrow! DO YOUR PART!
For a country the size of America, you really need to do this. You can not lock down entire states and expect millions of Americans to stay in their houses. It's fucking impossible to police.
We do NOT have enough HCQ to manage this, yet. Mostly because NY has most of it and isn't even giving it to their infected people. Also, "seriously ill" = facing death with this stuff. A slow, miserable and panicked death that Drs are almost powerless to help. And it leaves you with permanent lung damage if you do survive.
Correct. However, NY having almost half the infected people in the Country is NOT. And they are spreading it throughout the rest of the Country, including where we were basically free from this virus.
Stop the spread! Seal the State lines, it's the only practical way.
problem is their response has been act like a Gestapo too. lock everyone at home and tell them you cant open up your business unless you can telecommute or do curbside pickup or delivery, and if your business cant survive indefinite lockdown, oh well
Normal people see him confidently making rational decisions and acting "presidential". Even people who don't like the way he talks will respect his actions and recognize his strong leadership through a tough time.
Don't worry, the Twitter and Reddit cuck mobs don't represent REEEEEality.
MindsetRoulette please realize what's happening. Millions of doses of HCQ has been donated to US. Most of those are in NY and Fredo has refused to give them to all your infected people, which are nearly half of all the infections in the whole Country.
We need to seal your State lines to prevent the spread. Should be able to lift that restriction before Memorial Day, based on getting a supply of HCQ to everybody for preventative use. 15 pills is enough for preventative use and to get you through if you do catch it. Turns scary plague of death with no cure into a bad flu you get over in 6 days with no death and no side effects. People really sick even so go to Dr to get z pack and maybe a little more HCQ. Everybody's fine.
We can do this! Keep spreading it from NY (and NJ and CT) and we're all in bad shape. Right now most of the Country, most Counties have 0 people tested positive. Second biggest category is 1-4 infections per County. Most flyover States only have 6 counties with 5 or more infected people, those are the population centers many of which only have 30-ish cases per County at most.
The foodchain isn't locked down. Nobody's stopping a farmer from farming. From there to produce in restaurants is surprisingly few people. Not sure if they've changed anything about how they do things, but they're all "essential businesses" and not shut down.
Manufacturing and packaging happens mainly in urban (and some in suburban) areas though. That supply chain is all messed up. We really need to get the economy going. Trump pills for everyone!
For the love the Constitution, tread carefully on this.
I just watched an Anthony Pompliano stream where Rhode Island is going house to house looking for coronavirus victims and they wanted to shut their border. They were told that was not allowed so they are pulling people over automatically if they have a New York license plate.
We are seeing examples all over the country where freedoms are being trampled. This has got to stop. Recent stat by Rush of 300000 hospitalized and 60 MILLION infected by swine flu yet it is essentially forgotten.
I don't like what is going on economically and politically.
I mean I'd be partially ok with that just because I dont really have plans to travel out of he state soon, I just want this "everyone has to stay locked in their homes unless they have an essential reason" crap to end.
There is NO legal basis or precedent to shut down even one whole community. Tons of legal liability though.
Can reduce restaurants and bars to takeout / delivery / curbside only. I have no objections to this, think it's really sensible, and am proud of my fellow countrymen for being ingenious about how to do this.
Shutting down theaters hurts me; I'm a musician. Also a really sensible measure. Gatherings of 10 or more? Any number is arbitrary. Less supportive but no strong objection for 15 days.
Whenever bars are allowed to reopen here in WI it's going to be CRAZY! I will continue to self-isolate through that.
This would be the only thing that makes sense for our country. They can shut down the airports and interstates to keep those states generally isolated. Keep them only open for commercial trucking and air flights. Then let those states develop a Herd Immunity because at this point, there's no other choice. A vaccine is too far away.
Jersey City imposed a curfew on Bars at 10PM on Thursday 3/12, while NYC kept theirs open over the subsequent weekend. BDB and Cuomo are to blame for NYC rapid spread, they made some awful decisions leading up to this mess.
But they were all in encouraging people to get their collective asses to all the "lunar new year" celebrations the previous month. They brought it on themselves.
Heard a story here in the corn belt, fairly large Midwestern city...a bartender put a combination lock on his back door when the bars were closed. He lets certain customers have the combination and they can sneak in for a drink. Just anecdotal but from someone who would know.
This is the best approach. No need to quarantine a whole state if only select counties have high infection rates. Just quarantine those counties and maybe the adjacent ones
Disagreed. People commute all the way from the Delaware water gap to NYC. The trip can be made in 45 minutes along I-80.
Sealing the State lines is the only way to prevent continued massive spread to the rest of the Country. Please realize how much of the Country has 0 infected people! Help us beat this. Not being able to leave the State is not that big a deal. Should be able to lift that restriction before Memorial Day, won't even affect Summer plans. Should be a great summer; cheap gas, every place super clean
POTUS can definitely do this, it's well within the law. Commercial truck drivers should be second priority to get HCQ as a preventative measure, behind healthcare workers who I hope are already on it. Then the drivers can't spread it. Then commercial vehicles can be allowed to pass.
Treating the cargo shouldn't be impossible. Hopefully it's already being studied how long this virus can stay alive on various surfaces. Cardboard boxes and wooden pallets are probably very different from hard surfaces in this respect. Expose a skid full to some rain and it's probably altogether different yet again.
Lots of room for cutting corners to spread infection. Greedy assholes gonna mess everything up. Only option to that risk is further disruption of the supply chain.
China owes the rest of the world a debt it can never repay!
Not possible. People commute to LA from all over. Now if you seal the State line and manage your intrastate affairs that way, I'm fine with it. You're infections will skyrocket though.
Most responsible way to do this is starting in areas with 0 infections test everybody or just give everyone a supply of HCQ. 9 pills is enough for preventative use and at least get you started if you catch it. Buy you some time to get z pack and some more HCQ.
This might be doable Monday except NY is hoarding most of the HCQ. Not even giving it to all their infected people.
most of the Country, the number of tested positive cases per County that has the most Counties is ZERO infected people in the whole County! The second largest category is 1-4 people tested positive in the whole County.
Please help us by not sending infected people here! We're containing it and can get these people better if NY would stop hoarding all the HCQ and not even giving it to your infected people.
We're about to turn the corner in most of the Country. Isolate the hotspots and we should be able to get substantial areas back to work soon. That includes NY NJ and CT lumped together because the greater NYC metro area is impossible to control. The border to RI is easy to control, especially since most of the traffic is along I-95. I bet MA is wishing they had sealed their border with CT, look at their numbers!
Unfortunately my State newly has a D Governor that is also burning our economy to the ground.
Big picture is this has been in the works for over 100 years. If you check my history there is only 1 thread I've created in a very long time, and it discusses this big picture.
For as long as covid-19 exists.
Forever*
No -- Cali is very valuable property, costal beauty, great climate for farming -- just evict the bums and pressure wash it edge to edge.... But never give up a square inch of American territory
Pressure wash Cali edge to edge, you heard it here first folks. What a great idea.
That's a great username.
Also there are literally MILLIONS of good solid conservatives here. We don't have a voice, because we're continually outvoted/cheated by liberals - but we are here.
This!! Cali Pede reporting in!
Hear hear!
Or it’s Cali pedes!!
Now when you say pressure wash you mean flamethrowers right? It's the only way to be sure the virus is gone after all.
Hans bring flammenwerfer
put em all in a camp and turn on the gas
I heard CA is supposed to drift away from continental US in a few million years, can we speed that up in any way?
No. CA is a beautiful state. Maybe just a big tsunami that comes in and washes away all the coastal leftists should do it. Leave all the based people in the Central Valley, northern and mountain areas to take it over.
California is a beautiful state..which is why we must fight to save it. Got to get rid of the political ruling class.
Good news: the San Andreas Fault basically splits on that exact boundary
One solution (already done by President Bill Clinton in Utah): declare the entire coast and 20 miles inland a national preserve. Current residents have life lease, but no new property ownership.
Utah has a coast line? I've never heard of a lake having a coastline.
And the bubonic plague
I live here but if that is what it takes to reduce progressivism, I'll take whatever hardship comes this way. I don't like all the people that are encouraging more government intervention and suspension of freedoms.
She’s San Francisco right? Man fuckin FILTHY city. Makes Boston look like a gem.
Order $500 million in poop cleanup aid and send troops in to make sure.
It's about time
I used to hate when people said "security theater"after 9/11 But what we have been doing has been quarantine theater
It makes no sense to have people in clean parts of the country not working and confined to their homes while people from the hotspots spread the disease throughout the country.
If quarantining people into a geographic area is a violation of their rights it's no more a violation of their rights than what is being done closing businesses and enforcing stay at home rules.
Tha There had been an approach that has all of the cost with none of the benefit.
Considering Trump relocated from NY to Florida that is a bad idea!
Yankees are the worst.
Florida isn't really southern anymore though. I mean, it stops in north FL.
When the sun is above 50 degrees from the horizon, you get UV B which helps you make vitamin D, and the UV is tough on viruses
Ha! The sun rarely gets that high here. Just starting to now, but only briefly. Interesting fact
It will around noon in mid-April
I'd take those odds. Sunshine State looks good from WI, lol
I'm glad that the temps will be hot...hopefully it will stop the spread of it.
The virus or New Yorkers?
Hopefully both.
Heat doesn't slow COVID-19 it seems, based on the fact it's spreading like crazy in areas in southern hemisphere that's already hot summer. Could be wrong, but that's what I heard from a couple sources.
What if it's from people flying to those areas? Like the New Yorkers who flew to Florida.
People flying to Africa?
There’s a lot of Chinese business in Africa
The Southern Hemisphere just entered their fall season.
Because it is a cold virus.
New York is such a dump. Never liked the people from there either.
Right? Who knew that living in a crammed, over-priced, over-taxed, and over-policed city would give the inhabitants a shitty attitude?
Well yes I live in Florida
I think Ron should have been turning them around at the airport
WTF.
If they had stayed where they were we could have flooded that area with PPE and whatever equipment was necessary
But this is the behavior we can expect now
It's no longer the United States. Now it's Central America Somalia Syria
Obviously! How irresponsible of New Yorkers to spread it like this.
I'm not saying in their position, if I had the option, I would not run
Natural survival Instinct
That's why it has to be enforced
I'd love to see it. Would've loved to have seen travel from Iran shut down immediately. We'd have less than 1/2 the cases.
Can't believe we let people simply detour to other places then fly in without quarantining them
Here we are ...
To be fair. Whining about New Yorkers coming to Florida is a daily occurrence for all Floridians.
Quarantines are unconstitutional? Can you point me to the relevant part where this is illegal?
You have the right to free assembly. Government is forcing people to not leave home.
The right to peacefully assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Does the first amendment invalidate all public health laws? Interesting topic. I'll have to delve deeper into this when I have time.
Which part of the constitution covers forced quarantine?
The legality of public health laws are derived from Article I.
You can accidentally kill someone a million different ways, you don’t sacrifice your job and ability to feed your family over it
Given it’s no worse than the flu I’m fine going back to normal life right now
Bad argument.
Cuomo is hoarding it. Just like ventilators.
Don’t give up in us in CA. Many Pedes here.
No soup for you! Only wall!!
Do it. Quarantine the hot spots and let the rest of the country open back up. It's the only approach that makes sense.
Plus all the leftist and media douches in NYC reeeing over this will provide endless entertainment. Trump can just tell them, "oh you like China's handling of the crisis, let's give you a taste of that in NYC".
weld these liberal douchenecks into their apartment for "The Greater Good"
"Rule for thee, not me!"
REEEEE!
Suddenly these folks will stop REEEing at the idea of being out by easter. Suddenly that becomes the greatest idea ever
I dont live in NYC or JC or any of the urban areas. unless this is selective to just those areas and not the whole state, no.
Unfortunately there are about 6 counties in NJ with a lot of people who commute into NYC and as a result those counties now all have high infection rates. Same goes for counties in NY and CT.
The entire NYC metro area needs to be quarantined, but I agree, it should not be entire states.
Really hoping this does not impact entire states.
One note faggot.
One is about Jewish in NJ and the second claiming that the death rate among British Jews is high as ell.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8160827/New-Jersey-cops-forced-break-wedding-Jewish-community-people-ignore-social-distancing.html
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8159589/Jewish-leaders-urge-community-preserve-life-amid-coronavirus.html
DeSantis had to order a quarantine of people traveling down from NY, NJ and CT for 14 days in Florida to keep it from blowing up in his state.
Texas governor did the same, although it's only being enforced against people arriving by air.
No border checkpoints.... yet.

Absolutely spot on. The police are still busting up weddings in Lakewood. That's why their numbers are through the roof compared to the rest of Ocean County. We're in NJ, but way south of Philly -- very rural, very few cases thank God.
I'm familiar with Ocean County. Obviously it's not LBI since there's no Hasidic Jewish community there. What town?
From CT. Fairfield county is not representative of the rest of CT. Although I have seen a lot more NY plates on the highways recently.
"Fairfield county is not representative of the rest of CT."
From CT as well......Amen to that!
How are you going to do it less than the whole State? And people in NJ commute to the city all the way from the Delaware water gap. You can make the trip on I-80 in about 45 minutes. CT maybe has less long distance commuting, but again how do you lock it down less than the whole State? Practical solutions please.
He's saying they can't quarantine a specific region within the state, only the entire states themselves.
That's not what I heard an hour ago. Portions of NJ & Connecticut.
I think OP is saying that Trump wouldn't be able to quarantine "only NYC" even if he wanted to; he can only quarantine whole states at a time.
This is a national emergency
We can send Snake Plissken in with the Trump pills
Someone call up Kurt Russell! We've got a sequel to make!
They've already cast Brie Larson
You obviously have NO idea what South Jersey looks like, south of Philadelphia. Rural, farmland. And VERY few cases.
Is that you Cuomo?
Trump can't quarantine. He can only impose directives to keep us in state.
https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/historyquarantine.html
No one is commuting from Cumberland or Salem Counties into NYC to work. We're south of Philadelphia.
Will it matter with all of the truckers on the interstate anyway?
Chicago for one. Lil' Mussolini the mayor and her henchman are threatening to take people into custody after a warning, then a citation.
A huge # of people are thumbing their noses at this highly unconstitutional BS.
Meanwhile leftists call Trump a dictator when he's actually been trying as hard as he can NOT to act like a dictator.... delayed invoking the DPA, refusing national lockdown, etc
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/two-new-jersey-homeowners-are-arrested-after-hosting-large-gatherings-including-a-pop-up-wedding-at-their-homes-as-cops-say-people-are-ignoring-the-coronavirus-lockdown/ar-BB11vIUe
In Alaska, we have less than 100 cases statewide, and our largest cities are ghost towns...
It’s fucking moronic.
New Yorkers are going to be fleeing after this announcement. They're going to spread it even worse in the short term.
They've already been fleeing, that's the problem.
"Social distancing means driving six states away to infect my family, since I'm not working, right?"
So true.
So is Florida, but its not really being enforced. The state is just basically trusting that travelers will listen and quarantine at their destination.
Florida needs to do the same. So do the small towns in NJ that are being infected by willing carriers.
Along with a trillion other things our mom cough cough i mean governor is forcing on us
Is it time to build a wall around NYC?
Good! MA is wishing it had done that.
I was stuck behind an idiot with New Jersey plates driving through my neighborhood in Kansas at 15 mph.
He was trying to spread it to as many people as possible, obviously.
I saw this TV series. It wasn't very good and was canceled after the first season.
But, it was a pretty good movie.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_from_New_York
Yea quarantine means no one in and no one out without proper permissions. Honestly, I don't think it will do much good. It's already pretty much everywhere. Just be smart people
Yes it will make a difference
You can contact trace and contain it in areas with very few infections
We need to shut off New York with same as we are stopping flights from other countries
Why does it make sense to stop flights from Europe into the us but the let anyone from New York run all over the country
I used to live in Connecticut so I can tell you it's very much a county thing
People from the Hartford area aren't going to New York or Boston very often
True! And long distance commute from CT to work in NYC isn't nearly as prevalent as it is in NJ. But where do you make the cutoff point and still effectively reduce the spread?
State lines seem the only practical way of going about it to me.
Counties
Get some new material. You know nothing about New Jersey. Up the thread you claim to be from Wisconsin. South Jersey is FARM LAND. I live here.
Right tons of doofuses have been calling what we’ve been experiencing a “quarantine” when that only applies to a tiny fraction.
Groceries and home improvement are essential! What about gun stores?
Same in my corner of Western PA. A week or two ago it was a ghost town but the amount of traffic and people out on foot is beginning to look like normal. Except of course for 90% of the businesses being shuttered.
We are in a pseudo-quarantine. You won’t get federal charges for being out and about. Not sure what his regional quarantine means, but I’d assume it has actual teeth.
I live in NYC BTW.. SHHH dont tell anyone that i love our president ;)
You are not alone.
I live in the upper Hudson Valley area, and I'm also mad at Cuomo for that. Our area is flooded with NYC people, arrogant fucks.
Upstate (I know you guys don't call your area that, lol) is awesome. Love going up there.
Quarantine all the demonrat hell holes.
The Democrat area where the infected are
Unfortunately how long will it take for one of those 9th Circuit Court judges to fuck the entire United States
In before NY, NJ, and CT governors down play the virus and say that Trump is over reaching when he's thinking about instituting a quarantine.
As a New Jersey resident this is the move.
Hi Cheynemak! I can give you some info:
there is no legal basis or precedent to shut down a whole community.
Makes you wonder why the leftists demanded testing kits and ventilators and opposed HCQ. They don't want this disaster over or resolved.
True dat! A ventilator doesn't even increase our chances of survival much.
I meant more that ventilators are harder to produce, deploy, use, etc. The left and MSM don't want an easy solution. They want us all locked down, obedient, force vaxxed, and tagged.
as another NJ resident, nope.
As another Jersian, yes I support this move, if it means getting the fucking country back to normal.
Thank you!
I've heard that it's best to shoot the infected in the head
Ok Xi, calm down there bud, lol.
Don't believe everything you hear
hope you're still getting a paycheck during all this. luckily I am but the longer this goes on the more businesses are going to close or lay people off to cut expenses and not just the people who work at minimum wage jobs. what happened to "the cure cant be worse than the disease"?
faux my ass. and I'm not concerning.
You can leave, if you go though 14 day quarantine.
Sounds sensible to me! Except, how would this be monitored? If anybody so quarantined were tested twice, once upon entering on the first day and sent back with a positive test, the rest tested 14 days later and allowed to pass if still negative - we just don't have resources to do that.
Lock down the State lines is the only practical means I see
My idea is the best idea
Everyone's is! Lol. There's no way to accomplish it though. We're quasi putting everyone through a 15 day quarantine which will be complete this Monday morning ...
I know I have not been in 6 feet of anyone, I accomplished it. It is just that easy.
I live in NJ. This would be an incredibly dumb idea for those of us who aren't leftist communists.
careful, saying something like this will get you labeled a "concern troll" and unleash a torrent of downvotes from people who get to live in red states not currently locked down. why those of us who support the guy cant once in a while disagree with him on something, even strongly, without getting hate on here is beyond me. it's not concern trolling, it's legit taking issue with something because you're in the affected group. all I want is to be able to just go back to my normal life, come and go as I please and not worry that some government decree says I cant go out unless its deemed an "essential reason".
I agree. New Jersey is two separate states. I live way down here, 40 minutes south of Philly in the farm land, and compared to Bergen county it might as well be Iowa. There's a reason it's the garden state. You can't treat it as a single entity.
And just like that, all the virtue signaling governors around the country will left their shelter at home
I lost my job Friday. I need this plan.
this is unfortunately gonna keep happening, even to salary workers the longer people keep shutdowns and quarantines going. businesses cant go back to normal, owners looking to "trim the fat" anyway they can just to keep from going bankrupt. the 15day thing was fine but now it's taking care of those at risk and letting the rest of us move on. we cant stay in suspended animation while this virus "runs its course"
Fully agreed, im in IT at one of the labs administering the test but I wouldn't be shocked if I'm laid off if this goes beyond April
Harvard and MIT say it will only take 2 years
I wonder how many hundreds of billions will be giving to Africa over the course of two years
We just handed them 11 billion dollars
And 350 million to illegal aliens
Forced to do the job of an incompetent NY governor.
"Dems bad because dem"
Hope y'all got plenty of popcorn and diet covfefe, because I think we're gonna be watching the live-action version of Escape From New York.
Anybody seen Snake around?
There are no major problems in Chicago or IL.
The hospitals are NOT overwhelmed.
There is no panic.
There is a hospital near me and it is quiet like it normally is.
Lil' Mussolini & Gov. Fat Boy are lying.
And Los Angeles and San Francisco.
This would be hard to do to LA because it's not so much a city it's an entire county of smaller cities and suburbs.
Not any different than NYC, except NYC sprawls over 3 States.
Roads can be blocked
Choppers and drones fly.
I think it will be by county. And mainly Target people who are not being safe in those areas. And if you want to leave you need evidence of 15 day quarantine.
As long as I can maintain my bills then ok.
NY is already giving it to people
I don't think they have a placebo arm? I think it's all treatment arms. The malarial drugs, the HIV drugs etc. They are bending over backwards to get something out there.
That's for the study. Any doctor can prescribe it.
Oh, that's new. Bummer.
That's only democrat governed states tho.
ForHumans:
I think it would be by county. Heck, the President maybe trying to get the Governors to do it themselves?
Thoughtful! We are lucky to have a real leader at the helm
Ooh a real life version of The Siege.
Is this by order of Governor?
tangerinemanbad:
Sailing is a great idea ...
Why? This was almost always going to happen. It's why I got out of NY last week and headed south.
Exactly, so you stay where you are. Sounds like you wouldn't be leaving CT anyway, regardless of quarantine. So why get upset over quarantine? If I hadn't had the option to go south, I'd have fully expected (and accepted) that a quarantine was coming to NY.
because how long is this going to go on? all anyone wants to suggest is more quarantine
I'm guessing he'll put it in place until the number of daily new cases starts to decline?
That is the number we are looking for, unfortunately some states are rigging their numbers.
RicottaPrime, you, Sir, are an irresponsible asshole! Spreading it from NY all over the rest of the Country that has 0 infected people.
Unless you tested negative after a 14 day quarantine, in which case thank you for taking responsible precautions.
You should be able to leave, if you can prove you are healthy and did a 15 day quarantine
For Americans working together nothing is impossible, nothing.
yep and now the local national guard is going to come looking for you soon
Huh? That makes no sense. What are you talking about?
He's trolling. Ignore
He's going to shut down the airports.
And he can shut down the interstates to everyone but commercial vehicles.
The NYC wall just got 10' taller!
Quad bricks
QUAD DAMAGE!
Sealing State borders doesn't mean you have to stay in your home. You're free to roam the State. Just don't spread the infection to other States.
NY has half the cases in the whole Country! Seal it in.
At this point who cares if we get it? It’s like getting the flu and just as dangerous as the flu.
No quarantines. Open the country back up and let us go back to work. We have a cure for the seriously ill.
This has gone too far by several magnitudes.
This is completely avoidable.
That's why Trish Regan got canned. She said the same thing weeks ago.
Correct. However, NY having almost half the infected people in the Country is NOT. And they are spreading it throughout the rest of the Country, including where we were basically free from this virus.
Stop the spread! Seal the State lines, it's the only practical way.
Florida is getting flooded with snowbirds, mostly from New York. This has to be stopped!
Well pedes, wish us luck. Hopefully we won't have to go full Snake Plissken in the near future.
Not a fan. Let the governors and mayors fugure shit out.
problem is their response has been act like a Gestapo too. lock everyone at home and tell them you cant open up your business unless you can telecommute or do curbside pickup or delivery, and if your business cant survive indefinite lockdown, oh well
President Trump's clear-headed leadership through this crisis will be the final nail in the Democrats' coffin.
Let's hope!
Normal people see him confidently making rational decisions and acting "presidential". Even people who don't like the way he talks will respect his actions and recognize his strong leadership through a tough time.
Don't worry, the Twitter and Reddit cuck mobs don't represent REEEEEality.
I still hope for a major landslide! 49 States. (I have no hope for Hawaii)
There are ways we can navigate this whole mess successfully.
At the same time, we all need to be prepared for the worst case scenario which includes a big igloo coming from everywhere at once
I'm in the same boat. I do not live in NYC, but the rest of the state routinely gets dragged in to their mess!
They aren't in chaos. More media bullshit
Well that's true.
Please help us beat this!
I don't like what is going on economically and politically.
this. the solution cant just be "everyone is locked at home until we decide it's over or we fine/jail you".
I mean I'd be partially ok with that just because I dont really have plans to travel out of he state soon, I just want this "everyone has to stay locked in their homes unless they have an essential reason" crap to end.
Agreed 100%!
I don't think it would be that bad if you're free to roam the state. But I personally wouldn't trust the government to stop there.
Jersey City imposed a curfew on Bars at 10PM on Thursday 3/12, while NYC kept theirs open over the subsequent weekend. BDB and Cuomo are to blame for NYC rapid spread, they made some awful decisions leading up to this mess.
They still have bars open?
No, they closed bars and restaurants on the 15th.
Just quarantine those counties and maybe the adjacent ones
well that's at least more reasonable. but I cant support keeping all aspects of life on pause for months on end longer than they already are
DO IT
Interstate commerce? Hard to say the federal government has the ability to prohibit movement between states...
Needed to be done a week ago, but I'll take it
Fack it needed to be done in January.
Love this
Quarantine Los Angeles and open the rest of the state up.
Isn't there a declaration against hoarding?? Seize the HCQ if so.
Guess that would make sense.. stop spreading your illnesses to us in flyover country.
Exactly!
I live in the eastern part of CT. Feels like too late for a quarantine to matter.
Not too late to matter and here's why:
most of the Country, the number of tested positive cases per County that has the most Counties is ZERO infected people in the whole County!
Cuomo will whine "I don't like it, that's not who we are!" That gives him cover when Trump (an actual leader) drops the hammer.
You want people shooting at police and military then? Americans don't allow that sort of bullshit
Fully legal to shut State borders, well within the law.
You have states that are burning their economies to the ground, forcibly destroying businesses and livelihoods.
And then we could see feds come in and say these disaffected people can't get out to try and rebuild elsewhere.
Seems like a recipe for disaster.
Is the idea to reopen businesses within the states and then temporarily shut borders? Maybe that's ok.
But this is all extremely, extremely infuriating given how fucking weak the virus is
Unfortunately my State newly has a D Governor that is also burning our economy to the ground.
Big picture is this has been in the works for over 100 years. If you check my history there is only 1 thread I've created in a very long time, and it discusses this big picture.
Martz bus in my area has stopped making runs to and from NYC and Philly.
And what about the businesses there? They just go tits up for the flu then?
if we dont stop "quarantine culture" from becoming a thing now, theyll start doing it every year at flu season now. "aBUnDAncE oF cAUtION"
