I'm guessing he'll put it in place until the number of daily new cases starts to decline?

That is the number we are looking for, unfortunately some states are rigging their numbers.

RicottaPrime, you, Sir, are an irresponsible asshole! Spreading it from NY all over the rest of the Country that has 0 infected people.

Unless you tested negative after a 14 day quarantine, in which case thank you for taking responsible precautions.

Dude... What the crap? Why such a hurtful response?

I'm a young freelance guy who lives alone in NYC. All my work got cancelled for the next 3 months. I stayed inside my apt for almost 2 weeks; rarely went out except for food/groceries/going for a walk. I intended to wait it out, in the city, but the cases kept piling up and more and more things were being closed down. I have clinical depression/OCD, so this was not a good situation for me.

Over that 2-week lonely period, I was getting increasingly anxious and depressed, and my parents kept asking me each day over FaceTime if I was sure I didn't want to come down and ride this crisis out with the family in FL. Eventually, after a horrible panic attack, I caved in and told them I'd like to come home. They were thrilled and relieved.

I wore a mask to the airport, on the plane, and until I got home. I didn't sit near anyone at the airport or even on the plane; no one was in my row, nor in the row in front of me or the row behind me. I've now been home at my parents' for over a week, self-isolating. I have not gone anywhere. I've been terrified of getting symptoms, both for my own sake and my family's, but my parents keep reassuring me that I took precautions and did what I was supposed to do.

Also, why would I need to "test negative" after a 14 day quarantine? You do realize they only give you a test to begin with, if you have severe symptoms. And you also realize that even if I got symptoms and was positive, I'm still doing exactly the right thing: self-isolating.

So please, tell me how I'm an "irresponsible asshole"? Spreading it "all over the country"? I wasn't aware that going straight home to stay with my family was "all over the country". What is your problem??

My problem is that a million people have fled the greater NY metropolitan area and have spread this not only all over the Country but also directly to my County which would otherwise probably have just a handful of infected people like the worst of other Counties in this region. If everyone doing so took the precautions you did, that spread would have been reduced tremendously or possibly eliminated entirely.

Thank you for your caution! There's a difference between safe practices and the way tests are being given. After your 2 week quarantine, had you tested negative your trip would still be best made with all the same precautions you took, but there'd be a very significant added layer of responsibility. I'm well aware that this isn't how tests are being administered, and that's part of the panic that only serves to make this crisis worse. Conversely, anyone planning to leave an area that's a hot spot for this virus that tests positive after a 2 week quarantine shouldn't travel, no matter how many precautions they might take.

Part of being responsible would be giving Trump pills to everyone that's tested positive, to clear them of the virus completely in 6 days or less. NY isn't doing that despite having a huge supply of HCQ, and that's on Governor Cuomo, nobody else.

Once testing negative after being infected and taking a course of Trump pills, said person could travel responsibly provided they took all the precautions you did while travelling. Must have been eerily enjoyable flying on a mostly empty plane?

Glad you've managed to stay healthy. The time when there was a shortage of tests is behind us; we'll have so many we give them away to other Countries soon, which I'd rather see we get some compensation for to defray expenses.

Notice that in the common sense guidelines I laid out the same person would get tested 2 or 3 times. The fact we haven't been doing that is part of our current problem. I'm not suggesting there's a need for you to get tested now, and I think FL's numbers may only be starting to ramp up so conserving resources there is probably a very good idea. Glad you've managed to stay healthy!'I hope that continues. This is the most difficult time of self-isolation. After 5 days some people who've caught it develop symptoms. Others not for 2 weeks. Hang in there a bit longer! Sounds like you're doing everything you possibly can, and are being very conscientious. Wish everyone was more like you!

I read that everyone will be getting an additional $600 on top of unemployment pay every week. That is the only way I can stomach this. That plus the stimulus check is just enough to make ends meet for the month.

You should be able to leave, if you can prove you are healthy and did a 15 day quarantine

Impossible to "prove" unless it is monitored by health officials. Great idea but we just don't have the resources to do it.

Sealing the State borders of NY NJ and CT is the only sensible course of action. Should be able to lift those restrictions before Memorial Day so it doesn't even impact summer plans. Should be a great summer! Cheap gas, every place clean ...

For Americans working together nothing is impossible, nothing.

Well we're trusting everyone in this area not to leave and continue spreading it like they have been. We'll see how that goes.

Please, everyone realize you don't know if you're spreading it no matter when you got tested. You could've picked it up since ...
