Just a random thought. What do you think the chances are we see a stronger push for pot legalization once all this is said and done? It's an industry that would almost over night explode with jobs as well as be a highly taxable product.

Missing the point. Legalisation was to undercut the black market, and it failed.

Problem is, decriminalisation isn't legalisation. Legalisation is merely shifting the dealer to be government.

Certainly doesn't fix the problem, eh?

Not like abolishing alcohol didn't lead to speakeasies lmao

It doesn't boost an economy, the black market, which has always been there, just becomes the free market. The taxes paid by the growers/distributors removes most of the economic benefit.

And frankly, it's no windfall.

If it were up to me I'd say no way. Dont need more sorcery in the country. Years ago people thought pot smokers were lazy, disconnected from reality, and just plain weird. I dont like that its normalized here in Canada, just a further disintegration of the national character.

Legalization is the government's way of remaining in the cannabis business. Sell you back a god given right in the form of licensing. DECRIMINALIZATION! That's the proper path for this country. It's a fucking weed for Christ's sake.

God made every seed bearing plant for man... It is written . It should be legal as it is GOD given.

I don't think it will save the economy but it should be legalized. It is obviously a much safer drug then alchohol and tobacco. It will also have a side effect of lowering incarcerations for use. Drug dealers should stay behind bars though.

Remove it from schedule 1 let states decide.

Anyone that wants to smoke pot already smokes pot. The government doesn't need any more tax revenue. Make it legal here and I'll still buy it from the guy selling to the shops at 30-50% below retail.

Now if the greedy govt were to keep the tax rate the same as any other flower sold at Earl May, I may support the shops.

I think it is doubtful. Virus attacks lungs. Smokers of any kind have worse outlook for recovery. I quit smoking pot a month ago.

Before you rush into that, take a look at the states that have legalized it, and think twice about whether you want that in YOUR state.

It's not the Sunshine and Roses that we were promised.
