Oddly enough I hate to say this but Newsome did everything he could to minimize the spread early on...and oddly its paying off in the state. Pretty sure some of the mayors where the community spread will get a stern letter once this is over (as they often ignore Sacramento decrees).
Newsome might end up doing a 180 and try to bring industry back to CA (oh god I'm making myself laugh here). However, that move might be well enough that unless we find someone we can get behind come 2024. We're kind of boned....
People on this sub are too busy going after each other....we're being fracture from the inside. You got one group who is accusing the other side of loving big government during this time a crisis. While that same group is ignoring how bad things can get if the kung flu goes unchecked as long as their 401k's are unharmed because they use the media as a fear stoker... (oddly I was in the latter camp early on...until I started to see that this thing was not slowing down nor the death toll halting).
@MMC. Even in the land of poop and homeless (CA) with a pop of close to 40,000,00 (which Newsome did close us down several weeks ago), we have only 4000 cases identified with 100 deaths.
NY, with a pop of close to 20,000,000 has over 53,000 cases identified and close to 800 deaths.
NY's Cuomo waited so long to act. Both he and DeBlasio encouraged people to have a hug and attend parades without a care in the world. And their schools just recently closed down.
However, Newsome is far-left, has seriously damaged CA and he would never end up as an X on my ballot, but he did do the right thing (in this case only).
That's the thing, to win in CA you have to be far left. If Newsome was in a mid-western state he'd play moderate and probably be touted as a 'sane democrat'.
Lets not kid ourselves Newsome is a political animal. He's probably on par with maneuvering with the Clintons minus the body count.
He did the right call because to him and his aspirations this looks good for him on the presidential stage come 2024.
It also helps that a bunch of corporations started to voluntarily shut down. Its also Newsome's fault that CA got it early because the idiots near the AFB didnt practice protocol correctly and somehow something...got through from the quarantine (to this day they cant figure out how...my guess an asymptomatic carrier).
