The potential for an effective vaccine is irrelevant to these people. Look at the flu vaccine that is pushed on Americans every year, even though it has a low efficacy rate. The pharmaceutical companies make a lot of money off of this. And I'm not an anti-vaxxer...my kids got all of the required childhood vaccines.
I'm very much pro-vaccine but I've never believed by fiat, there's a vaccination for every human ailment. It's just unscientific and bad medicine to focus a priori on vaccinations without even acknowledging the limits of what we know and what vaccinations can do.
