Here’s a bit from this point in 2009 saying H1N1 has a 1-4% mortality rate AND calling that “low.” Wonder why 1% is considered astronomical today but 4% wasn’t back then. Strange.

H1N1 killed 12,469 in the US alone and 375,000 in just the first year in circulation worldwide per CDC website. Nice try though.
