Most clinical trials take many months and even years, right?

That's not even an argument. "We don't have definitive proof that chloroquine works, therefore it is an 'unproven' treatment."

The point of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic isn't to write a bunch of airtight scientific articles detailing the best treatments, it's to end the fucking pandemic.

It's an approved drug. It's safe. We know this. The only question is how well it works against Coronavirus. So the effect would be somewhere between "none" and "total." Which is a RISK FREE RANGE.

This is why I decry the incredible amount of real JUNK science that has been progressively increasing over the last 20 years.

Climategate i and II both delivered incredible insights as to what is being passed off as "science" and "peer-reviewed" literature. Those two episodes did some incredible damage to the fundamentals of science, as perceived by the average person.

There's quite a bit of money chasing in science. Public institutional science is not pure as the wind-driven snow, as many professors would love to claim. The almighty $$$ rules there, just as much as they accuse it of being in the private labs.
