You expect me to believe that China contained COVID-19 within the city of Wuhan and it had marginal effects and disruptions throughout all other mainland Chinese cities / Chinese economy? But somehow it is shutting every country and every major city down across the globe??? Come on China... this whole thing is suspect

This is what I'm struggling with too. I'm trying to figure this out. Outside observers are saying their industrial capacity is back to something like 90%, so they are mostly back to work. So what happened/is happening?
Some thoughts:
They were remarkably successful in containing the virus. Wuhan is still on lockdown, so they basically just turned the city into a concentration camp. But somehow they limited the spread successfully too.
They figured out a cure of some sort (or at least a successful treatment). But Wuhan is still locked down, so whatever it is is not entirely successful.
The virus has mutated as it went around the world and we're seeing other strains that are more virulent/deadly in other places around the world (Italy/Spain).
They're lying about the numbers (which I have no doubt about) but they still contained it well enough to get most of the country back to work.
It's a mystery to me.
The simplest explanation is that the Chinese government is lying about everything, to save face. They may have re-opened their factories, whether they are producing anything much of good quality is a wholly different question.
The numbers don't add up.
With 1.6 Billion people even if you assumed at better handling than the US (which off all major or 1st-world countries affected, they should have around 650,000 infected, but are reporting a total of around 85,000.
Infection numbers...
The entire outbreak in China was contained to, essentially, one city; meanwhile, everywhere else in the world, it's spreads with travel (primarily)
Then, add, China, the epicenter of the outbreak, has had no new reported cases in nearly 20 days. Huh?
^ These are lies by China.
