I think it depends on where people are coming from. I came here with my family after having lived and worked in a socialist country. I have first-hand experience with many of the proposals today's Dems are putting forth. Those policies are the reason I had to leave my family and loved ones behind, and you can bet I am not voting for these policies here either.
Another problem with immigrants is that even conservative ones tend to advocate for more immigration because they always feel greater sympathy for their migrant countrymen than for the American people this immigration hurts.
Once they've formed a sufficient voting block, actual Americans can never again choose to close the door.
Perhaps none of them should be able to vote until they're three generations naturalized. Then their loyalties will more likely be with us.
This is 100% true. I'm a first generation(?) I guess. Wasn't born here, but grew up here. My parents vote democrat, though their ideals are more conservative. I think they should restrict immigration to allow for integration into American culture. I kind of disagree with Trump's idea of a meritocracy. America is the place where anyone from any sort of background can become anything if they put their time and dedication I to it. These underprivileged people who have to work their way up gain an appreciation for the US. Unlike those who are already top tier don't have to work from the bottom up to realize just how good the US is
All too rare unfortunately. Recent immigrants vote 70+ percent Democrat.
As nice as this poster is, they area tiny minority. And this example will be used to promote more immigration in conservative spaces.
We should probably declare an immigration moratorium. Give the USA time to become a nation again.
Exactly, "conservatives" who support immigration are committing suicide.
Unless, you actually spend time getting them on board.
