This is 100% true. I'm a first generation(?) I guess. Wasn't born here, but grew up here. My parents vote democrat, though their ideals are more conservative. I think they should restrict immigration to allow for integration into American culture. I kind of disagree with Trump's idea of a meritocracy. America is the place where anyone from any sort of background can become anything if they put their time and dedication I to it. These underprivileged people who have to work their way up gain an appreciation for the US. Unlike those who are already top tier don't have to work from the bottom up to realize just how good the US is
