While I agree with the intent behind it, that’s a dangerous place to go. I’m with you, though...I wish we could just get NEWS.

I have no idea but that sounds like a great idea. He could probably do something now since we are under a state of emergency.

Any news generally thought to be skewing the news in favor or against of a political figure or to skew the publics perception shall be against the fucking law. Punishable by PRISON!

I'm sure under some wartime emergency powers he can shutdown the press, but can you imagine the collective outcry?

I'm all for freedom of the press, but I think there should be enforceable penalties for knowingly publishing false stories.

Maybe a three strikes rule:

  1. $1,000 fine (payable by the individual) and $10,000 fine (payable by the publication)

  2. $25,000 fine (payable by the individual) and $250,000 fine (payable by the publication)

  3. 5 years no parole for the individual, 10 years for the editor, the publisher, and the owner.

every 5 years each individual get's to loose a strike.

Had another idea...

How about an online league table of jurno's reputations?

They get every story they have penned rated from 1 to 5, 1 being 100% factually correct without any inferences, and 5 is a balls out lie.

See how long they will put up with being shown to be lying cunts.

I would be happy if the EO just read that any fake news that is discovered has to have a RETRACTION that is exactly the same type font and paper placement as the original story. No more FAKE NEWS headlines on the front page in 30 font size and then two days later, a retraction on page 18 in a classified ad size font.

Very dangerous place to go. Freedom of speech can sometimes result in ridiculous things being said. That's the nature of the beast, but we had many fight and die for us to have that right. It's unfortunate that we live in a time that people are so lacking in education that they can't tell the difference between bullshit and truth.
