The only good thing I heard from today was that Trump made the point that the longer this shutdown goes on the worse it's going to cause a spike in suicides, drug abuse deaths, depression, anxiety-related illnesses, and even more destroyed businesses. I went over to Northwestern Memorial Hospital today and took photos. There is NOTHING GOING ON! Northwestern is the flagship of hospitals in Chicago. It is emptier than normal because of the lack of elective surgeries. One of the two main lobbies had staff waiting and looking for people. Other hospitals are also quiet.
There was no reason to shut Chicago down and the governor and mayor are lying about the numbers. They are pulling a Cuomo claiming potential numbers.

I've been programming for a long time but don't do it professionally, and my skills are in systems (C/C++) languages that aren't nearly as in-demand as they once were. I'd be willing to pick up some new skills though, particularly if I could be confident in finding remote work opportunities since I don't want to move, especially if it's to the Bay Area or LA or Austin.
i work remotely, doing data engineering and data science. Absolute must knows are sql, java, python. Also get familiar with distributed computing paradigms (hadoop map reduce, spark/apache beam etc, all written in java and python). A certificate for aws or some other cloud service doesnt hurt either
I'm learning Data Science as we speak. Been pounding away on books and online courses in Data Science, Python, and Machine Learning/Deep Learning for a few months now. Mainly started getting into it with the desire of developing an automated day-trading system, but now seriously thinking about turning it into a career change.
Have professional experience (somewhat limited) in SQL. No Java, but lots of C/C++ and C# as well. Picking up Python rapidly. Tinkered a bit with Hadoop type stuff like PyArrow & Spark.
Thinking about even getting an online masters degree or a career track service like SpringBoard. Any recommendations there?

A new test came from France today this time with 80 participants. 78 out of 80 were cured within a few days. The two that were not were pretty old.
South Korea has been using it for a while to treat their patients. Their death rate, consequently, is much lower than other countries.
France today just approved it for use with Chinese virus patients. Likely because of the test from above.
There have been several instances from the US even where people were brought back from the brink of death due to it.

The trial in New York only started two days ago. The studies currently out show it takes about 5-8 days for tests to start showing negative.
