I believe this is all a scheme to take down Trump and America. China doesn't want Trump to win re-election. He kicked their ass on trade and brought manufacturing back to America. China wants another pushover like OBummer or Clinton, that will give America away to the highest bidder. Look at the pattern: First it was Russia, Russia, Russia!! That failed miserably. Then it was impeachment. That backfired in the DemonRats' faces. So what better way to take down Trump then destroy the economy?!? Everybody knows that the DemonRats are in bed with China.

Pandemic = No public gatherings = Mail-in ballots at the next US election = Voter fraud = Democrats win = China wins.

Simple.

The_Peter 8 points ago +8 / -0

The (alleged) basis for preventing public gatherings is to "flatten the curve".

In order for the coronavirus to legitimately warrant mail-in ballots, they're going to have to flatten that curve for the next 8 months, which I don't see happening without something much worse than coronavirus happening.

Not gonna happen. MYbe they thought it would but it ain't

Not allowing public gatherings is unconstitutional per our first amendment. Why are you guys accepting this?

Mitch McConnell has a pretty cozy relationship with the Chicoms too.

I heard a good comment recently: “in six month’s time, hysterical overreaction and ‘success’ will look exactly the same”.

Expect max 20000. That's if NY keeps going as it has and we get other outbreaks too.

3
BigCovfefe 3 points ago +3 / -0

I Doubt even 20,000 will die from this. Probably due to our mitigation efforts. I dont even know why anyone puts out 200K. So dumb.

2
Keep_on_Trumpin 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agreed. Remember when CDC said this virus could infect 70% of the population? Fear mongering. And it's working

They want to inflate the casualties then when it doesn't happen trump can claim the credit for the lower n7mbers.

8
Pedeville 8 points ago +9 / -1

Yup, in a couple months time when they realize people arent dying, they're gonna say its because the government saved everyone so now they have to get more power in case something happens in the future

1
VetforTrump 1 point ago +1 / -0

The government could not have more power than it has now under the war production act. He took Google, the fed...who knows what else he has freed from the leftist.

Not if the cost of overreacting is greater than the cost of “getting our teeth kicked in”, which is how it looks right now.

24
UnstableGoat 24 points ago +26 / -2

There’s nothing they’re not telling us - literally the Left has had overreacting on autopilot for 3+ years.

It was annoying at first, exhausting after that, and now rife with economic consequences now. It’s way past these petulant children’s bedtime

24
Belleoffreedom 24 points ago +24 / -0

They're telling us, we are not experienced with epidemics, any more.

A novel virus can be merciless, and they are moving heaven and earth to mitigate the damage. They are succeeding. We are going to have treatment that will keep people out of the hospitals.

Italy hospitals were already overrun, because it’s socialized state run system and the state is bankrupt and had to cut back on services because of austerity because the EU, after Brexit, would not survive another Greece like bailout.

Know your stuff

Their government was already bankrupt and receiving support from the EU for the last decade.

2
LoneStarDangler 2 points ago +2 / -0

Italy has one of the biggest economies in the EU. They are no more bankrupt than the US just because the government is running a deficit.

Both Italy and Spain are horribly mismanged by leftist idiots.

The analogy I like to use, in this instance, is to compare our response to this disease to how we've handled the AIDS virus.

AIDS is a killer, period, but it's highly restrictive in its ability to transfer from one individual to another. It has been known for nearly 30 years that AIDS is transmitted via sexual contact, blood transfusion, or sharing hiperdermic needles. It is a disease that you can virtually guarantee you will not contract if you don't engage in risky behavior and this information has been widely available and preached on mainstream sources for decades. Yet, Americans are still contracting AIDS. Why?

Human beings are fickle, unpredictable, stubborn, and often willfully ignorant. If we can't eliminate AIDS, there is no amount of quarantine or restrictive behavior that will stop the spread of the Chinese Flu. It is inevitable that some people will willingly, or unbeknownst to them, place themselves in a position to contract this virus. The only thing you can really do is educate the population and hope those who are at greatest risk from serious complications take initiative to protect themselves. This virus is too communicable to be stopped, so damaging our economy and subsequently driving people to act in deliberate defiance against attempts to stop the spread will only make things worse.

I am not scared of the Chinese Flu, but a fucked up economy, an overreaching government, and a panic induced population culminate into something truly disastrous that gives me nightmares, and I want this nightmare to end.

In short, fuck all the hype and let us live our lives. This shit will sort itself out, as these diseases have for the last two millenia.

Who is we? Government overreacting maybe, but that's not "we," that's "them." We're just forced to go along for the ride, because what do we know? What can we do / what are we doing?

I bet Italy doesn't feel like there's an overreaction.

I'm less interested in the reaction than the impetus. Have you seen Endgame: Blurprint for Global Enslavement? How much of this is prep for a future bioweapon release, which will be prep for the next or final one?

Could be a depopulation exercise.

inquimouse 2 points ago +2 / -0

How about, we weren't prepared, Trump knew about bioweapon preparation, jumped on this epidemic to get the attention necessary to show China is a bad actor whether they actually planned this outbreak or not, and is now reorganizing us to be more self sufficient and ready to go in a planned attack? I don't think China meant for this to get loose as it did, but they did have a plan for more controlled destruction.

6
doug2 6 points ago +6 / -0

I've said this since day one. It is the obvious take and I'm shocked it isn't everyone's gut reaction. I vote for "they're hiding something to prevent a panic" myself.

4
Nimble_navigator92 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is preventing a panic? I don't want to see what panic looks like then

1
inquimouse 1 point ago +1 / -0

Suppose it was as deadly as ebola and the FDA--CDC was handling the response without Trump kicking them daily. And the fake news was covering it without daily briefings.

Mortality is even lower than we realize because there are many many people who were sick with Coronavirus and were never tested and just got better.

9
DrBJTester 9 points ago +10 / -1

This is the correct math.

9
Sumarongi 9 points ago +10 / -1

No, it’s not high to begin with. Mortality rate is mortality rate. No ‘reaction’ affects mortality rate. The only variable with distancing is infection rate

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
5
cmndr_pepe_spacefrce 5 points ago +7 / -2

Infection rate would be lower bc of our shutdowns, not the mortality rate

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
2
cmndr_pepe_spacefrce 2 points ago +2 / -0

But none of our hospitals are close to be overrun in the first place. Hospitals are cutting back on staff and people are going untreated for other things. Our mortality rates will likely go down further now that hydroxychloroquine has been approved by the FDA to combat the symptoms of Covid-19

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
1
Red-Shackle 1 point ago +3 / -2

That's not how mortality rate is calculated.

They're telling us everything, every day, with unprecedented transparency and press access. Birx even gives us the source studies they used and the website to go to.

When people say "Something doesn't add up" it's usually because of their own ignorance.

Sounds like a flat-earther.

QueenMAGA 19 points ago +19 / -0

If they knew it were a bioweapon they may act with an extreme response.

2
Imransgarage 2 points ago +3 / -1

Right people are being children and this “it’s no big deal at all” type response isn’t helpful.

Would the President extend the distancing period past Easter for no reason? No, he wouldn’t.

1
inquimouse 1 point ago +1 / -0

You can see he doesn't like the idea. The shutdown is hurting other countries though. Iran isn't selling oil to China as they hoped. Why isn't China buying? Maybe because their production of many things took a big hit and so did their food supply, and now they are doubly pariahs, first for the virus and second for selling defective tests and masks. Another month will be harder on them than us.
