Remember a couple weeks ago when the fake news was going around claiming that Trump was "muzzling" Dr Fauci, and Fauci had to come out and say that he was not and never had been "muzzled" by the President?
I think it's time Trump actually does it, or at least gives this guy a stern talking to about dropping insane "worst case scenario" "if the entire country was New York City and we weren't taking any measures to combat the virus" death toll projection numbers.
The media has been parroting his "200,000 might die" figure all goddamn evening and morning as if it's in any way actually a likely scenario.

I think I first heard the "WE'RE TWO WEEKS AWAY" trope on Friday, 13 June. This was from an IC swamp dweller who also swore that "CASES ARE GONNA SPIKE AND HOSPITALS AROUND HERE WILL BE OVERWHELMED" during the week of 23 June. I think he's still muttering about "WE'RE TWO WEEKS AWAY."

It's the press that is concentrating on the worst case of what he says and blowing it out of proportion...The more Trump keeps him on and points out that it's the worst case, that Dr. Fauci is an expert and he listens to the experts but makes the decisions, the more he will be proven right in the end. Dr. Fauci gives the the possible ranges, the press runs around like chicken little, and Trump will be proven to be the voice of reason.

Fauci is also saying 2,000,000 would have died if we didn't do anything. You want to muzzle Fauci because he is projecting a death toll that you strongly disagree with as 200,000 dead is a horrifying amount for someone who believed this was no worse than the seasonal flu.
alternatively consider this: he lets the doctors be science-y and warn us of worst cases, while behind the scenes we are distributing drugs that will severely lower the numbers from the doctors predictions
it would be the best way to strategically set himself up for a public perception win without acting inappropriately in his current task of trying to save lives
if Hilary were president they'd be conditioning us to accept milions of deaths so that when it was only a couple hundred thousand we would think they did a great job
right now we are on track for a couple hundred thousand deaths (if we are slightly unlucky) but could reduce that to something like 20000 if we could get these drugs out very quickly to every hotspot and start using them immediately
the only unknown/worry for me is how much of these malaria meds we have available, since they don't seem to want to talk about that

You got to let him say it. I hate to talk about these deaths in a political manner, but if does approach 200k, Trump's admin has been saying that so people are more prepared. If it doesn't? Trump's admin will take credit for beating those numbers.

Well, 2,500 Americans have died related to the virus as of now. A bad flu season might take 65,000 lives as we had for example in 2018.
I hope it ends up being much less, and that treatment regimens end up having a great impact. But if we barely bat an eye over a flu season that takes over 60,000 American lives, is 200k really that surprising for the China flu?
And when it ends with a death toll FAR lower than 200,000 that will only help President Trump. So let the little guy talk.

Lol. 200K is the worst case of our new “best case” scenario. Without all of our current mitigation efforts that figure could be 2.2 million. Yes, millions of people. With our current plan the models show we can expect 100K to 200K deaths, so Dr. Fauci was completely accurate.
So before you call to muzzle the doc, you might want to make sure you know what you’re talking about.
