I think Joe just has an affinity for him and touts him as the funniest guy around. Diaz has had a legit crazy life. Finding his mom dead at like 13 years old in their apartment while he was tripping on acid and other stories he has are adictivly entertaining once you understand that the guy is as much a victim of his upbringing as much as anything else and he's managed to turn all the fucked up experiences into laughter is pretty cool. I'm not even a real fan of his but I get the appeal.
