My Christian faith started before kindergarten, and as I browse here and see all the complaining about church closings, I am reminded of this verse from Jesus: “ When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get.” Matt 6:5

Jesus tells us to be humble in our prayer, and to know when it becomes less about prayer and more about ego. He specifically warns against it. So why the push to congregate? Personally, I think something more insidious is going on- Sharia Blue trolls trying to get us to spread the disease to each other to kill us off. If you’re following God, and talk to Him each day, He knows that physically going to a building right now is reckless and selfish!

I agree. You dont need a middle man between you and God. Say your prayers. Do good deeds. Be the Christian ( or whatever you believe in ) the best you can be.

Shouldn’t be unpopular, is spreading this shit because you can’t stay out of church for a couple weeks or months godly. He is omnipresent. Do be an asshole for your own selfish bullshit. Maybe the pastor needed money for his Benz payment.

You're right that it's wiser to voluntarily refrain

But absent martial law, the government has no legitimate power to ban it

New York City has effectively implemented martial law.

It’s almost as if people think God would never understand

Not every place in the country has that much of a problem with the virus, and we shouldn't be petrified of living our lives because something bad might happen. You could die doing just about everything. Everything is a risk.

That's why we should open up business in most of the country ASAP.

If you're in NYC or New Orleans it's probably smart to stay at home though.

If you normally go to church and they’re not having services now due to China virus, please consider sending money. They still have bills too and pastors and staff rely on the collections for their income. And many of them are working very hard right now, taking calls from upset people.
