Flu isn't as contagious, has years of data on it, has a vaccine (albeit a shady one), it doesn't annually send the healthcare system to it's breaking point, and has treatments that increase survival rate.

I know that a point here is to try and compare Covid and the Flu by saying how one is being treated differently than the other despite both being deadly, but if we're all for not spreading fake news and being "ambassadors of truth", you're gonna have to concede this point.

We know what demographics are at risk and we have a drug with a very high success rate in saving lives, much higher than the flu vaccine, and yet people are rolling over for an iron fist infringing on the liberties of everyone, including the majority who are not at real risk of the disease. If you want me to take you seriously, then you need to look at the bigger picture.

All demographics are at risk, some more than others. It's been shown that the healthcare system gets hammered especially hard because so many people can get sick at a rapid rate and because of that people who may not have died will die because they don't get the medical help they need. That is the bigger picture. This is why so many restrictions have been created in our country. You can debate about whether the restrictions are right or wrong but there isn't getting around that this new virus is nothing to be flippant about.

I’m at risk of maybe having a cough and a mild fever for a few days, far less than what I’d experience with the flu. I’m more likely to die in a car accident but I should be locked in? Everyone isn’t actually at risk, that’s just not true. Very dishonest to mischaracterize my position as flippant too bc I addressed that some groups are at real risk. People wanting everyone locked in by overbearing-mother government are flipping out and creating a tyrant over everyone.

Less than 0.5% of REPORTED Cases for under 50 result in mortality, much less.

But we COULD take some time and compare the reaction to this and to the H1N1 outbreak during obummer's time... and how he took 6 months to react. And how the media essentially ignored it.

So there is a comment to be made here that one of the reasons people are overreacting is that the media has NEVER since the 1918 outbreak of the Spanish Influenza epidemic, treated any disease this way. Not ebola, not zika, nothin'. So the real commentary needs to be a comparison of different media reactions to these situations depending upon whether the Prez is a Dem or a Republican

the Flu killed 80k people with all of us walking around basically ignoring it. Also there are flu shots.

Fauci says this thing may kill 100-200k people (middle of road estimate) and that’s with the entire country shutting down. If we didn’t shut the country down, it could kill 1-2 million.

This thing is worse than the flu. Do you not get that?
