What they aren't telling you is that a flattened curve does not recede or reach maximum casualties in two more weeks. Instead, it continues on for months at the newly flattened but lower and more manageable mortality rate. This elongated but flattened curve could then sums the total deaths to up to 200,000.
The contrast would be a massive, spiking apex curve with enormous casualties in a short time period, overwhelming the system and causing a greater loss of life. This is obviously less preferable than a flattened and more controlled crisis.
TLDR: Deport the idiot concern trolls.
I think a more tactful approach is needed, thusly:
"look bitch, here's the facts, then I have work to do. You're recording it, play it back to make sure you get it right."
It's a cold virus that can mutate into pneumonia. There are hundreds of viruses out there anyone can catch at any time. Hell my 47 year old heathy cousin caught necrotizing fasciitis, the flesh eating bacteria on equipment at a gym on Sunday night. He started feeling sick wed. He was dead by Saturday at 2pm! Left 2 babies and a 42 year old wife. No gurantees!

The mechanism by which Wuflu can kill people can cause a miserable and terrifying death without any bacterial infection. I'm highly susceptible to that if I catch it so I've read up on those details quite a bit.
The other benefit to Azithromycin is that it inhibits RNA synthesis in the target organism as its mechanism of action (macrolide antibiotic). Covid is an RNA virus so I suspect that plays a role.
You're still missing the primary mechanism of death, although all the others mentioned are true:
at the same time as the lungs fill up with bodily fluids /blood, the alveoli have thickened to the point they are no longer gas permeable. No matter how much you breathe, 02 doesn't enter the bloodstream. Neither do waste gases pass from the bloodstream to the lungs to be eliminated by exhaling.
This doesn't happen like flipping a light switch, but is a long and painful process. Being on a ventilator does nothing to directly address this condition, which is why so many die in an ICU. The ventilator itself which has been getting so much attention is not the main shortage, it's the pulmonary therapist. That person will be struggling right along with their patient for every breath, and their knowledge and skill is the biggest variable in outcome. Death can take 30 days of this, which is why ICU beds and ventilators get filled. Those that survive will have permanent lung damage and likely damage to other organs too, in which case they're not likely to survive for 2 years.
No respiratory therapist is going to continue functioning at their best working under these conditions. Long term effects of trauma are another factor no one is considering.
We'll soon have 20x more doses of HCQ than we need to give a full course to everyone infected. It's been donated to US and is on the way. That actually saves lives (in conjunction with zinc and z pack) prevents lung damage, keeps you from needing a ventilator and in almost every case keeps people out of the hospital. That's how to flatten the curve! And turn the corner on this.
And hopefully get everyone back to work responsibly, and soon. I've done the numbers and based on pills of .5 g in order to get everyone in the US a supply we need 5 billion. We could cut that down to 2 billion by not giving any to people in flyover States in Counties with 0 people tested positive, and maybe have 9 pills for everyone else. That would be enough to try it for preventative use and increase the dose if you get it anyway. Then if you need to, go to the Dr get z pack and maybe a little more HCQ.
By May 1 we won't have 1 billion. We really need to use the incoming supply aggressively to get everyone virus-free! We can't afford to repeat the mistake of hoarding it like Cuomo did with the first 9 million donated doses.
