I’ve been listening to MedCram for years just because his lectures are really excellent for medical professionals. His stuff on the Wuhan fru has been of excellent quality.

WHY AREN'T WE USING THIS ON EVERY COVID POSITIVE PATIENT IN THE US?? KNOCK THIS VIRUS OUT IN 2 F'N WEEKS!

Bramble 22 points ago +22 / -0

Because we outsourced pill production to Chyna and can't make enough domestically.

10
DisgustedByMisleadia 10 points ago +11 / -1

We can make plenty domestically. Mylan is restarting their production line in West Virginia, and expects to start distribution in mid-April. The believe they can make 50M doses, although the article didn't say over what time interval.

Teva is also making it, but I don't know where they are doing so. Teva is an Israeli company, with operations worldwide (including the US).

That sort of supports the original point. Up until now, we couldn't make enough domestically. We still have to wait on that production line to actually start up.

It has already started.

It's not helping that governors are banning its use for CV. I assume they will reverse those orders when the supply goes up but who knows? These are Trump haters, they want to deny him a win.

Nah thats fine because it will free up resources for the sane states. Oh shit, I live in Michigan. RIP.

So the Democrat Governors will ultimately be responsible for a larger number of deaths in their states, with adjacent governors likely restricting non-commercial traffic. Way to tilt upcoming elections.

Strike08 4 points ago +4 / -0

They already know that dead people will vote democrat anyway.

In greater numbers than ever!

4
DisgustedByMisleadia 4 points ago +5 / -1

True, but it's a temporary situation.

Teva (and other manufacturers) donated their existing inventory to either public health agencies or the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), which is being distributed to public health agency under the FDA's emergency order on Sunday. It was millions of doses.

I think it’s important to mention that just because the drug may be manufactured in West Virginia does not mean the reliance from China for that supply chain has ended.

I tried my best to find out where these big generic companies get their API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) used to make the drug, and turns out it’s considered a trade secret and companies do not release that info. What we do know is China makes roughly 80% of the worlds generic API, so whether it’s pressed in West Virginia or not, most of the ingredient is likely to be coming from China and we’d never know.

The questions is, how easy is it to produce the API somewhere else besides China or domestically so we can then have the whole chain safe from disruption.

That's a good point. Teva has a news release saying they had a small API plant in China, which remains closed.

Because this is an out-of-patent molecule that Big Pharma cannot price gouge with because it can be made generically.

Watch for a “new” drug that gets patented that Big Pharma will sell to the worlds ‘s Governments in titanic quantities.

Because the bureaucracy is dragging its feet. We were supposed to be saved by tech billionaires using public funds to create a prohibitively expensive, sparkly vaccine, which they are giving to the world purely out of the goodness of their hearts, and also because it brings the ka-chings.

India is hoarding all of theirs. Production is ramping up, but it takes a few weeks.

I just watched that whole thing. Pretty interesting shit.

In the past when I've been sick I've done hot/cold showers. I'm going to start doing those again for maintenance.

We should have some kind of results/update today or tomorrow from the 1100 patients using these drugs in NY

4
Block_Helen 4 points ago +4 / -0

I hope so. I think it's been a week already. I hope they don't suppress good results just to hurt Trump.

4
MeatloafFvck 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think they started later than last Tuesday, Trump said on Sunday they started 2 days ago - I was bummed out to hear that being stuck in the epicenter of this shit

Block_Helen 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thanks for the update. If you find a link let me know, I have a friend in NY that's obsessed with this and is complaining because the data hasn't been made available yet.

Watch #47 regarding pre-antibiotic era's methods that were used somewhat effectively to combat flu. Might only be moderately effective, but every little bit helps...

Calm yourself.

It isn’t a bailout. A bailout is when a business acts stupidly and through its own mismanagement dooms itself to failure, and the government steps in to save the business to protect jobs and production.

These businesses currently struggling are struggling because the government interjected itself and enforced policies that were absolutely destructive in the interest of the public health through no fault of their own. They need to be propped up to give Americans jobs to go back to once this passes.

As far as there being a cure, aim your animus at Big Pharma which is loath to allow a generically produced molecule be the cure for this malady as they will be unable to fleece the world with a “new” patented “cure”, and have been pulling their puppet strings in the WHO, CDC, FDA and the complicit media to stall the currently effective (and affordable) treatment.

It's not yet available in large enough quantity. Trump wants us to get back to work, believe me.

  1. It's not a cure, it just reduces the duration of the illness and slows the virus down from doing the severe and long lasting damage to your lungs that ultimately leads to your death

  2. We need to scale production of the drug to nationwide levels and safely. Where's pharmabro Martin Shrkreli when you need him?

thxpk 0 points ago +1 / -1

That’s literally the definition of a cure.

Cure

verb

relieve (a person or animal) of the symptoms of a disease or condition.

1
jbaum517 1 point ago +2 / -1

Right, it doesn't do that. It doesn't "relieve the symptoms". It's not actually fighting the virus specifically, it's just making it slower for the virus to progress and gives your immune system more time to figure out how to fight it off. You'll still be getting nasty symptoms while taking it, you may just not have the symptoms for a full 14 days and may will instead have it just for a shortened 10 .

-1
thxpk -1 points ago +1 / -2

No one said it was fighting the virus directly but the definition of the word is literally what the treatment does.

-2
jbaum517 -2 points ago +1 / -3

You said "relieve a person of the symptoms". It doesn't do that. How do you still not get it, jfc

2
thxpk 2 points ago +2 / -0

It does exactly that if you’ve read any of the studies or anecdotes so either you’re a moron or you’re trolling

1
fuckoffspez 1 point ago +2 / -1

It's a treatment not a cure. I can't think of a single virus that has a cure unless you count cure by bone marrow transplant.
