A key takeaway is that the Chinese were using mice and bats to create a class of virus that would spread to humans through bats. Now we seldom see bats in most places, but there are lots out there, many doing good work eating bugs. And nesting in attics, caves, lots of places where it would be hard to find and control them if they became a disease vector. This is fiendish. I can't think of a justification for this particular bioengineering feat, can anyone? It makes me think of Q's refrain "these people are evil" -- maybe trying to kill the world is even worse than the satanic pedophile cabal.
