About 25 percent of L.A Unified’s 600,000 students don’t have internet access to home, according to EdSource.

SHENANIGANS. Ask those same high school students if they have a smartphone. Watch what happens.

Unexpectedly. Does that mean they lose the funding?

If by "lose the funding" you mean sell bonds to increase the funding for outreach programs, then yes they will lose the funding.

This is why, even in liberal cities, the right needs to get out and consistently vote against bond issues. This is needed even if you don't vote for anything or anyone else.

150,000 students without internet access in Los Angeles? That's bullshit.

I checked the FCC website and 100% of LA County homes have access to 2 or more internet providers, 99.38% have three or more potential providers. This is for broadband too.

These kids have internet access, but would rather be out spray painting walls.

Watch the wording. "Access to" in that statistic means it's available, but obviously you still have to pay to access it. If a student says he doesn't have access at home, he means his family isn't paying a provider.

HOWEVER. A lot of those students don't understand what that means. They'll watch a youtube on their phone at home and not realize that counts as "internet access." They still see "internet access" as a computer.

“It’s simply not acceptable that we lose touch with 15,000 young adults or that many students aren’t getting the education they should be,” Beutner said Monday. “This will take some time and a good bit of trial and error to get it right. And it will take the continued patience and commitment of all involved — students, families and teachers.”

Lose touch? How about not closing schools. We are basically losing half of an entire school year for millions of K-12 students across our country.

Open the economy back up!

Daily it's harder to get work from students.
