I live in China, not in Wuhan, but near(ish) there. We are just now starting to get a glimpse of what really happened, and from what I've seen on WeChat, it ain't pretty. There may be over 100k dead. People are talking about an apocalypse.
Now in America, we are saying: dude died of heart disease, but tested positive for corona, so that is a corona death. We do this with flu as well.
In China, if dude died of heart disease and had corona, it's heart disease and won't even mention corona as a contributor if tested at all. From what I'm hearing, they are just now cleaning out some of these apartments where they had welded people into their homes and finding whole families dead. These bodies will not be tested, nor will they be reported.
You have to remember, China has the lowest rate of deaths for seasonal flu; typically less than 1000 people per year. Because if there is any reason other than flu that they can point to, that will be the cause of death.
