Gentlemen,

Let me preface this by saying: Im pretty baked right now, thus why I added the ? instead of a period. This may be a horrible idea but Im just to high to realize it lol.

Ive really been on a mission lately, correcting fake news when I see it on social media. Not going crazy and trying to get everything, just making sure that any liberal friends of mine who post shit like "Trump called it a hoax," get links to snopes (lol) and the WaPo, saying he didnt.

Theres been a bit of fake news popping up around here sadly, some of it is honest and unintentional, some of it is obvious china shills. Ive been trying to think of a simple way to fight back against the shills, which will also help those who unintentionally spread it.

Do a quick google search when you hear something that is unverified. If you havent seen things for yourself, double check it. When you post, include links.

I know this is a bit of a hassle, but I think (well stoned me thinks) that if we could get everyone on board, it would weed out the shills and other china govt faggots pretty quick. It would also have teh added bonus of making sure the news we share here is legit.

Is this reasonable? Do other people have better ideas? Let me know kind folk, as I hate China shills an would love to see them exposed.

I'm all for it, but it gets a little crazy here late at night and on weekends.

It's always been a battle to weed out the shills who log in only to make us look bad. Winding up the room with false info is a pastime for some.

A good rule of thumb is to correct with sources if you can. Let the mods make the final decisions.

It's a difficult ballance to support free speech, but remove trolls. I pull the trigger more often than I should. We're all human. We make mistakes, sometimes we have bad days...But China be shillin'

Using that search engine is not going to help; they are a very big part of the disinformation campaign.

Of course google helps. They’re biased but their bias is more subtle than you’re suggesting. Still, use DuckDuckGo.com along with google just in case.

No, google is way too biased. Considering they put results from Snopes and Politifact at the top of search results, it couldn't be more biased.

Why did you log into your alt just to make another bullshit statement including yet more irrational absolutes? Lol you also downvoted me with your alt.

Lame even for a shill.

Go study your media matters manual sum more. Lmao

This is a bullshit statement. Are you a shill?

He's saying that Google often has biased search results. Considering they put results from Snopes and Politifact at the top of search results, it couldn't be more biased.

Using Duck is better imo.

Ok, then use google to find me the footage of James Alefantis at the bike rack dedication ceremony for Seth Rich. I saw it, didn’t save it. It happened, was analyzed to prove it was him, and now that event is as though it was never filmed.

Great idea. I would add that everyone always demand sauce if it’s not already provided and those who fail should be ridiculed as shills.

I think there should be a "newbie" tag for every accounts first 10 comments and first 3 posts.

I think it should be based off of how old the account is. Up to 2 week old accounts should be marked a different color.

I thought about that but the issue I see with that is that someone could just create a hundred accounts wait two weeks and defeat that method.

With the other idea, a shill would have contribute 10 comments that weren't fake/shill stuff before their "attack", and that drastically increases the effort required to get a non-newbie account. And during the 10 comments period, people would be more likely to see their contributions and deport them if necessary.

But what do I know about running places like this.
