It's supremely pathetic of Republicans that they allow this to happen.

Shut down the Department of Education. It's obviously worse than useless.

The Federal Department of Education is not an eternal pillar. It only dates from the Carter administration. The Founding Fathers did not devise it. Education was a state and local matter until only a few decades ago.

Teacher here. The way it is always justified is “things were not great but we are learning and getting better”. They said it with No Child Left Behind and now they are starting to say it about Common Core. The argument is ALWAYS that they need more time and money and ultimately more power.

When you have a massive system that spends so much but gets so little, that is a clear indication of resources being allocated poorly. Determining the most efficient way to allocate resources, aka economics, is the #1 thing that has to be fixed if we ever want our education system to thrive. However, you can never bring up the topic of money with these people because they just resort to emotional arguments about how our children’s education is priceless. It’s the elephant in the room that the unions and politicians won’t let you acknowledge.

The sad thing is they would call you a hateful racist, and try to take your child away... This should never have been happening.

White dignity is not white supremacy.

Refusing to be a doormat is not racism.

To paraphrase George Carlin: if you want your kids to be smart, don’t just teach them to read - teach them not to believe everything they read.

As More States Require Schools to Teach LGBTQ History, Resources for Teachers Expand

Looks like a liberal thinktank disguised as an education resource.

I'd rather kids either be home-educated or taught by robots as opposed to these rabid harlots doling out propaganda all day like agents of the DNC.

We need to save our schools. Why isn't DeVoss fixing this already?

Read the paragraph from the article:

The report comes at a time when communism is making the news. It's driven by leftist statements by Congressional Democrats and Democrat Presidential candidates. It also involves the rise of subversive leftist media and entertainment. They have the hateful and wrong belief that America will someday be a socialist country.

Which statement summarizes the paragraph?

This is why I send my Daughter to an ultra conservative small independent Christian school.

The kids have to have a class in the bible. The students and the teachers have to dress modestly. The kids have to stand when the speak and say Sir/Mam. They say the pledge every morning and sing God Bless America. I review all the items the teachers use to teach with and all are Pro God, Pro America, and Pro family.

It's obvious that many students are that brainwashed after years of reading bs like this. If your kids are doing lessons from this company, read first to see what's in the lessons

Teacher here. NewsELA is a news aggregator site that allows you to ramp up or tone down news articles to fit the reading level of kids.

Being a news aggregator, it means they don't write their own stories, but instead gather them from a variety of sources, mostly MSM (CNN, FOX, ABC, MSNBC, CBS). That means that sometimes news stories like this do sneak through.

But to blame the entire site, or ALL teachers for this isn't right. I know a great deal of conservative pubic school teachers, and yeah, we have hide. We are the only ones out there trying to stop the full scale indoctrination of our kids. We are the ones arguing against liberal discipline policies (i.e. nobody gets in trouble), against the removal of letter grades and GPAs (they racist!), and the restoration of the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer in schools.

Instead of trying to end public education, you should be pushing to get more conservative voices into the school system. Instead of pulling your kids out, get your kids in there and speak up against policies you don't agree with. Go to school board meetings! Write to your state senators!

The biggest problem with education today is conservative families pulling their kids out! By walking away from the problem, you aren't taking any money away from schools - you aren't affecting them at all.

All you are really doing is allowing to go further and further down the path toward total liberal takeover.

What happens when all conservatives are out of public education? The Communists have the ideal conditions to condition half of the country's children without any pushback.
