The Democrats benefit more, or think they do, the more people die. They can try to blame those deaths on Trump (although it will probably not take). They also benefit if the economy collapses. Compared to a well functioning free trade economy, or even a just okay functioning one, socialism looks a whole lot better when there's 30%-40% unemployment. Note also that it's mostly Democrat governors who are going mad with power and trying to stop this treatment. It is not about money. It's about prolonging the crisis and taking power.
