I’m continually curious why South Korea has such a low death rate and almost complete flat line compared to every other country, including the US.

I don’t buy the “testing” was so successful at keeping the virus at bay. They had like a 97% negative rate in testing for the virus. The virus sure seems to be running rampart here, it did not do that in Seoul, in other large cities in South Korea.

They did apparently 1) isolate the old and vulnerable 2) use Hydroxychoriquine 3) use extensive and evasive people tracking/tracing via their cell phones to isolate citizens.

I’m hoping others will weigh in. I do remember seeing a post at one point very early on in South Korea’s battle with the virus (like week one) that the health minister committed suicide. And then nothing but positive stories were reported on the cases.

What is missing? How can it seem so drastic here compared to there. Also, Hong Kong and Taiwan have nothing really. Maybe I’ve just missed the news from these spots. It doesn’t make sense.

Everyone wants to make it political, but I chalk this up to familiarity with China

SK be like: "China done found another bat bug again, time to get the rain coat"

Rest of world be like: surprised Pikachu

I’m sure this is true!

Asian cultures do what they're told. If they're told to stay inside all day every day, they will. I think between that and early and consistent use of HCQ made all the difference for them.

I do know their small land mass and ability to halt travel easier plays in their favor. I hadn’t heard much about their travel restrictions, but maybe that was quick and effective too.

This viruses is so crazy I really don't know what to believe. I do know the president in South Korea is a hard lefty so I wouldn't totally trust their numbers. But I also can't imagine the South Korean people would stand for a cover up.

The other possibility and more likely is that you have infected lefty mother fuckers in our country going around getting people sick in combination with some Chinese operatives

Everything about this is crazy.

They locked down hard and conformed to basically martial law over night. They had to download an app on their phone that gave government access to their positions at all time. Super 1984.

I didn’t really hear much about the lockdown except for in Daegu. Did they do the same in Seoul or just stopped people from traveling out of Daegu?

scheat91 4 points ago +4 / -0

You are correct. 70-76% of SKs infections were in Daegu so they locked that shit up but they kept social distancing protocols. Pretty much every where else.

The main reason they didn’t lock everyone down was because they didn’t want to be likened to North Korea. The last thing their government wants is for people to believe they are becoming a NK clone.

they also wear a ton of masks otuside just like hong kong and Taiwain. They crazy part is it doesn't have to be N95, it just to keep people who are asymptiomatic from breathing and spreading it.

Masks are our future, I feel sure!

Nah. Never happen mainstream in America.

They tracked every single citizen, doxxed them in the process of quarantining citizens suspected to have been exposed to covid19, and isolated them.

On top of that, they all were wearing masks constantly.

Also, don't expect too much out of South Korean government. They keep being outed as cultists, they're a bit fucked.

Hong Kong and Taiwan both don't trust China, had a month (or two) head notice over us because they were so close and took precautions early. Again, they also habitually wear masks this time of year, and Hong Kong was using them for months just to avoid facial recongition.

Yes, need to learn more about their government.

South Korea pulled infected people out of homes.

So I’m wondering about this, are the South Koreans not complaining about this? Even the Chinese people try to complain on social media (although they regret the consequences of doing so, I’m sure). Have you seen any specific videos or complaints from SK citizens?

They checked temps leaving their apts, and going into work, they GPS them and doxx them, so yeah if that is what you want. Goooo for it, we won't, we can't. Let Asia do Asia. Stop working with China and stop believing anything they say.

I know 100% the reason. They know how serious this is and exactly what to do to prevent it from spreading.

Unlike the doofuses at Spring Break, Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year celebrations here. There were people bitching here because St. Patrick's Day was shut down.

High IQ homogeneous society

their approach wouldn't have worked here unless we shut down the borders and suspended all domestic travel on the day we shut down China

even then I don't think we had enough tests or testing capacity to act as rapidly as S Korea did

2
45forever [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I know South Korea utilized private companies for testing, and they sure came up with test kits fast. I do believe they are scary quick in technologies- but it seems so strange (other than red tape FDA) that we couldn’t of done the same. Still, despite testing, their tracking their citizens had to play a huge role too.

Last time I check their death rate was 1 per 60.

Ours was 1 per 56 in same period. Seems like the differences are being expanded to something they aren’t. S. Korea has problems just like everyone else.

Good point.

Not a dick. Thanks for sharing your opinion. I know South Korea is extremely competitive in terms of jobs and standing out as doing the best. I believe people work their asses off there and don’t necessarily have the luxuries or free time we westerners do. I also think their a bit more stressed and suicidal. But I do think they take their healthcare seriously.

It does make me wonder. Does anyone have data on ethnicity numbers of deaths?

2
Tyrant597 2 points ago +2 / -0
  1. They do what they're told.
  2. They didn't have Democrats encouraging everyone to keep partying in the face of eminent death.

45forever [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I just don’t remember seeing the “shutdown” streets of SK. I thought they isolated infected and also told elderly to stay home, but all others carried on (with masks as usual.)

2
Tyrant597 2 points ago +2 / -0

They also did a better job with contact tracing I believe.

Their young people didn't go on Spring Break. Their middle aged people pretending to be young didn't go to Mardi Gras. And their feminists didn't defy quarantine orders to "march for equality".

It’s interesting you say this, the only person I know of (don’t know personally) that has the virus is a 60 yr old woman who went to Madri Gras. She travelled from another state. I was very surprised, I cant relate.
