True story. While at college I majored in Computer Science at a pretty good Tech school. I busted my ass and only partied when I got good grades (work hard party hard). I would usually be in the lab at least 3 times a week until about 8pm or so working on projects/homework assignments. I would always see Chinese students in there all day and all night. At first I'm thinking "they must really study hard and get 4.0s" then when I would have some classes with them I would notice they weren't the brightest people.
They barely asked question, big indicator that you were not paying attention or have no desire to learn. I sat near one in lab and was able to see a Chinese student's grade, he got a big fat F. Now I'm wondering what are they doing hanging out in the lab all day how have they not been able to pass the class or exams.
The worst part is I would see these students in other classes that you would need to pass the prerequisite in order to take the next class. How in the hell did they pass? Professor curve the grade to not seem racist? Did they somehow cheat the system? Ever since my personal experience I never assume the stereotype that Asian students are the best type of students. All races have smarts and idiots.
People of aoo races who bust their butts to get out of shit holes on pure merit are good students. For years we were creaming off the top from all over Asia. This gave a distorted view.
