The fake news is using this to once again divide the people against Trump. That is NOT who we are. We welcome aid assistance whatever you want to call it. It used to be known a humanity. But the fake news ruined that. Now it's either this side or the other. Shameful. We are all human and we all straive to aid anyone who needs help, no matter where it comes from or who supplies it. Where we go one, we go all patriots!
I think the fbi refused to believe intel on the tsarnev brothers that could have prevented the Boston marathon bombing because that intel came from... Russiaaaa! Chuck Todd never asked if the fbi had blood on their hands...
I hate that we have to ask Russia for help, but I'm glad they stepped up and would rather take it from them than China.
I've thought for a while now that Russia is not the enemy to us they are made out to be. That doesn't mean we should be best friends or they are to be trusted, but in a lot of ways they share our values. They will always take care of Russia's interests first without respect to our opinion and we just have to keep that in mind.
Instead we go get in bed with Chinese dictators instead and pretend they are our best friends and now they've given us a disease.
Russian people are great! I have worked for many (as an independent contractor, never an employee) and they always appreciate my work ethic and honest value. Most people everywhere want the same thing: they love their families, love their land, and just want to live in peace and earn an honest living.
Russia can't be the threat the USSR was. Putin's trying to change that. Doesn't mean we can't do business. Were these supplies purchased, or donated?
I think we should cease feeding what's left of the Soviet regime. And of course the CCP too. Selling them food is different. Let them buy it. Our pig farmers are especially hurting right now. We have record numbers of pigs, and no demand for anything, anywhere. This will be a good summer to bbq (etc) all the pork you can stand to eat, it'll be uber cheap. All from the US. Just cook it thoroughly.
Yeah, all the meat in the area was sold out for a while so I knuckled under and found some on whole foods. They do have good meat at least. Supplies are good now though, bug I still find the strangest thing of all that TP is in scarce supply. People are hording it like Soros and his holocaust jew gold.
I gotta see if there are any deals on a pork shoulder. It's been far too long since i've fired up the UDS (ugly drum smoker) for about a dozen hours of slow and low. mmm.. even installed a PID which keeps the temp perfect so i don't have to keep checking on it so much. man i'm getting hungry. lol.
There is a lot to be said for a strategic relationship with Russia. I'm not gonna take Vlad Putin for a sunset stroll on the beach or anything, but I think the us could benefit a lot from shifting our trade dollars away from China and looking for new relationships. I know they try to influence our government just like every other country does. Israel exerts waaaaay more influence on our government than Russia and we can still cooperate with them.
Yup! And most of Russia's influence is overt rather than covert. Has been for a long time now. Russian troll farms are NOTHING compared to chicom shills.
I always thought it hilarious that the main takeaway I've gotten from what Russia did to "collude" in our elections was to make social media accounts and campaign for Trump. Like we don't do that to other countries.
Totally agree. We need to be our own factory or someone else will always have us by the balls. Seems like we are going to have to pay more for "made in America" like we used to. The trade off being that with that increased price of goods there might just be a return of productive jobs that would allow a man to support a family.
Honestly I just want products that are better made and last longer.
I refuse to buy most "designer" clothes because it's all China, and paying $50 for a shirt that cost $1 to make is just ludicrous.
What about small appliances? TVs? TVs are glorified monitors, they don't change all that much.
Computers are especially an annoyance to me. There is absolutely NO reason grandma needs a $1k phone or laptop every 2 years. What's she going to do? Play Fortnite? No. Computers have not significantly changed in the last decade (just ask all those windows 7 holdouts) and anyone who is not a gamer doesn't need to be upgrading constantly. Just make some well put together electronics that can take a beating from life, ESD, power surges, and even a soda spill or two, charge a heavy markup, and keep the software updated. Make these things expensive and worth a premium for being long-lasting.
Good grief, my mom has a TV that is over 60 years old and is still running. And thanks to us tech kids doing some maintenance, she's got a laptop that is well over 10 years old and is still ticking just fine on windows 10. That laptop would be a lot less trouble for us kids if it didn't have fans or power supplies dying on her though...
I always laugh a little inside when I see some little old lady buying an iPhone 11 Pro Max (upgrading from an XS max or something) because it has a "better camera". I tell them to go put them in their hand at the store and see if she can tell the difference between the camera on the $700 model and the $1500 model. And the reality is these devices start acting wonky after a year, making older folks think they have to upgrade constantly when they probably just need a hard reset. :P
In my garage i've got a General Electric Monitor Top refrigerator that my grandparents bought new in 1933. After they passed, i kept the fridge and replaced the wiring and a nice gloss white paintjob and it still runs like a champ. Good luck on any appliance bought today lasting even 1/4 that many years.
While economics is, fundamentally, the study of relative value, the era of relative labor costs specifically as the defining factor of consumerism, that is, the era in which manufacturing chases the poorest labor-ready populations around the globe for extra margin points is, hopefully, coming to a close. It will be replaced with the long-heralded but perpetually cost-ineffective automation, now that extra costs associated with outsourced labor will rebalance the basic equations.
I have never before heard a report from that side of the iron curtain during that era. Thank you! I lived through it and "tear down that wall" is even more momentous than the words of the first man on the moon, which I saw as soon as it was broadcast.
When this is beaten it is going to be better than all of that ...
On a side note too, did those guys get a 10 for 1 discount on old landing gear for small planes or something and thought it would be a good idea to just put tons of it on a big plane?
Yeah largest military cargo plane in the world, bigger than our C-5 Galaxy but not by much. Slightly smaller than the 747-8F Cargo. If you've ever seen a C-5 Galaxy landing or taking off you're amazed that it can fly. I'm a plane geek and I would have loved to see this thing coming in to O'Hare. These are rarely seen in the West anymore with only roughly a dozen operating in civil cargo carriers out of Eurasia (the rest are Russian Military). The Russians have tried some crazy airframes. They made an even bigger version called the AN-225 and a helicopter called the Mi-26 which is insane. There's a video out there on the web of a Mi-26 lifting up a main battle tank which is just incredible!
No doubt! We are definitely the kings of airframe experimentation and the Cold War was a fun period if we're talking about prototyping. We tried just about everything! I share your disappointment about the Sea Dart lol. The B-58 is one of my favorite US designs for the 'absolutely crazy' application category. I just was thinking about some of Russia's cookiest designs as the AN-124 is a prime example of what I'd argue is their theme: 'bigger is always better'. I think they'd have developed a flying skyscraper if physics allowed lol.
She's a beast! Do you have light rail or trolleys in your city? This plane is what delivers those rail cars from manufacturers like Siemens or Bombardier. This plane LIFTS. Those landing gear are massive for a really good reason! Can't be popping tires in case of a rough landing!
G, let me think... Russia was an ally in TWO WORLD WARS and has yet to openly attack us. They are primarily a christian nation that fights Jihad terrorism. I'm sure there are plenty of negatives to report, but something tells me our two nations are getting closer, not farther apart.
Taking China out of the equation would greatly benefit Russia’s manufacturing and steel industries as well. China is destroying everyone’s ability to manufacture not just the US’s. They really need to be stopped.
It's awesome, but it's not even their largest plane. Its big brother, the AN-225 (also Ukraine-built) is just incomprehensibly massive. Largest plane ever built, and it's extremely unlikely that record will ever be broken.
I honestly see this whole ordeal bringing Russia and western nation's closer together. Russia isn't happy with China about this. Russians and the Russian Government are quickly finding out their interests do not actually align with China as much as they thought they did, despite their differences with the west.
This shit brings tears to my eyes. Here Trump is, calling in favors from all around the world and people step up because they respect him and the US. Here too, are democrats doing everything they can to shut him (and us) down.
That's a Russian Air Force plane. Wow.
Never thought I would see the day.
I will never fully trust the Russians (child of the Cold War) but I truly appreciate their kindness in this terrible time.
Thanks, Russia. I mean that.
Putin is, and always has been, Russia first. As he should be. That doesn't make him anti-America. Strong leaders respect strong leaders. That's why he and Trump have the relationship that they do, mutual respect.
I lke Vlad. He is intelligent and forward-thinking. And I appreciate his response to Trump's request. I am still waiting and hoping for Putin to be shown walking and talking with Trump at The White House. It should happen. Dem heads explode.
There are always multiple valid reasons for what our POTUS does, and this one is to preface something, and to educate about reality.
All I can say is America has spent at least 100 years coming to the aid financially and militarily of all nation's. For once, we are in need of not money, not troops, not oil, we just need some masks and ventilators that are made mainly in sweatshops.
I know other countries do too and are so used to having the world's piggie bank come to save the day on the backs of the good ol' US of A taxpayer.
We will make it on our own but we have to remember that China shut down production or shipped supplies elsewhere and NATO, WHO and the U.N. were no where to be seen when it came to our hour of need. WHO shilled for China and we're a big reason everyone was late to realize the situation.
Trump gets a lot of flack for having a huge ego. But when it comes down to it he always gets shit done and his ego never gets in the way. The same can’t be said for almost every other politician. They can’t pass a stimulus bill in Congress because of their egos. I can guarantee you not a single democrat would have asked for or accepted help from Putin because they have made him the boogeyman the past 4 years. Muh Russian collusion. 🍑🍃
Russia is fine, it's unfortunate we've been subjected to nonstop propaganda against them for the past several years.
They're not a friend, but not a foe either. More like an arch nemesis.
Frenemy.
Based AF.
So... We can make Tom Clancy's 'The Bear and the Dragon' come to life and include Russia into NATO to save them from the Chinese?
That would be the craziest timeline.
History has proven time and again that when the US and Russia team up, someone is going to get their asses kicked.
They could at least be neutral. They need something to keep china from chewing off half their country in the next 50 years.
They don't eat bats.
They could though. Germs can't survive that much vodka.
Russia's always on the cusp of being our enemy, but then whenever we fight a world war, they end up on our side.
..but they should be our Friend: Christian-centered, family-oriented, trad-values admired.
I think it's all been china using russia as a scapegoat.
This.
China is using its bought off MSM and politicians to red herring us with Russia nonsense. It's not the Cold War era anymore. China is asshole.
"Russia is fine" is a pretty big over statement.
Please still flee Russia for a better life anywhere else.
it was all about getting everybody focused on russia so that you don't notice that china owns the entire lib trash party

Cheap pork sounds good to me. That's a lot of what I've bought recently anyway. I haven't seen any ground beef for sale in two weeks on that side.
I ate a ton of pork during the swine flu thing. Was never a risk in pork but people thought it was. They were almost giving it away.
Pork is the best deal in the store. Gets a bad rap from Everyone's mom making dry overcooked pork chops
You should try my Memphis Dry Rub smoked ribs!
We're gonna need a recipe!
Skip right to the samples please
Rinse, pat dry. Sprinkle dry rub liberally on all sides and rub in. Smoke at 225 until done.
No wrap?

Simple enough. Firing up the Traeger.
Accurate.
-from experience
Just made us some pulled pork. 6 pounds worth for 32 bucks. Might be expensive in some places but very reasonable price for good food.
That does sound a bit pricy, I live in central FL and I know I can get some large cuts of pork butt, shoulder, etc for about 3$ a lb.
A rack of st louis ribs for me is about $9-$12.
But yea.. I've been smoking a lot of meats recently with all this time and working on a small budget.
Yeah, all the meat in the area was sold out for a while so I knuckled under and found some on whole foods. They do have good meat at least. Supplies are good now though, bug I still find the strangest thing of all that TP is in scarce supply. People are hording it like Soros and his holocaust jew gold.
Thick cut slow cooker pork chops are one of my faves.
I gotta see if there are any deals on a pork shoulder. It's been far too long since i've fired up the UDS (ugly drum smoker) for about a dozen hours of slow and low. mmm.. even installed a PID which keeps the temp perfect so i don't have to keep checking on it so much. man i'm getting hungry. lol.
Low and slow muh bros. Mop it. Smoke it Mop it. Ohhhhh man.
I smoked using a weber kettle not too long ago. Tough to keep the temp constant but came out pretty nice.
Seriously, pork is amazing, all I’ve eaten in the last month. Chicken is nasty now anyway, it’s so tough. Woody chicken, yuck
Pork is the cheapest meat here in NZ. can get 2 x pork chops for $6 nzd which is probably about $3 USD

Totally agree. We need to be our own factory or someone else will always have us by the balls. Seems like we are going to have to pay more for "made in America" like we used to. No joke man. My mother bought a toaster and a microwave in 1982. They both lasted till 2006. Nothing lasts like that now
Agreed.

Yes, this. The ‘70s all the moms got jobs. It devalued labor. Jimmy Carter’s economy was a miasma.
Ahhhh Jimmie Carter. The Obama of the '70s
The factory monopoly China had is bending if not broken already with companies relocating to avoid the tarrifs Trump pit on China
While economics is, fundamentally, the study of relative value, the era of relative labor costs specifically as the defining factor of consumerism, that is, the era in which manufacturing chases the poorest labor-ready populations around the globe for extra margin points is, hopefully, coming to a close. I'm calling it nearshoring. Not reshoring, jeans will never come back to the US, but I expect them to go to Mexico.
I have never before heard a report from that side of the iron curtain during that era. Thank you! I lived through it and "tear down that wall" is even more momentous than the words of the first man on the moon, which I saw as soon as it was broadcast.

They get up to all kinds of mischief on r/NormalDayInRussia or whatever they call themselves
That just goes without saying when it comes to pork, or poultry.
145F is fine. You used to have to over cook pork to avoid trichinosis , but this isn't a problem anymore.
We've bred pigs to have less fat, so going over 145F results in dry, hard meat.
McRib is back?!
What about Oceania?
On a side note too, did those guys get a 10 for 1 discount on old landing gear for small planes or something and thought it would be a good idea to just put tons of it on a big plane?
fwiw, that's a big fucking plane.
Yeah I know. 747ish size I believe or slightly bigger. It's still a hilarious looking configuration.
If I recall, that's the largest plane in the world

To be fair we have had some bizarre ones too, like the flying pancake, the pogo, the sea dart...bummed about that one.
No doubt! We are definitely the kings of airframe experimentation and the Cold War was a fun period if we're talking about prototyping. We tried just about everything! I share your disappointment about the Sea Dart lol. The B-58 is one of my favorite US designs for the 'absolutely crazy' application category. Impressive girth!
Dude.. those landing gear aren't small, that is a massive plane!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uekesq20vo8
I imagine it also has to do with the massive carrying capacity of this particular aircraft.
"the An-124 was, for thirty years, the world's heaviest gross weight production cargo airplane and second heaviest operating cargo aircraft, "
She's a beast! Do you have light rail or trolleys in your city? This plane is what delivers those rail cars from manufacturers like Siemens or Bombardier. This plane LIFTS. Those landing gear are massive for a really good reason! Can't be popping tires in case of a rough landing!
I never thought about hauling rail cars on a plane. Just assumed they came by boat (or rail obviously).
I'm sure it's a cool plane and I can never get enough of airplanes and spaceships. Still think it looks funny :)
I think Putin does a great job. Most who hate on him have no clue or are liberals. He will still be running Russia after Trump is long gone.
Putin and Russia only care about Putin and Russia. Knowing that's all they care about probably makes them easier to work with than others.
G, let me think... Russia was an ally in TWO WORLD WARS and has yet to openly attack us. They are primarily a christian nation that fights Jihad terrorism. I'm sure there are plenty of negatives to report, but something tells me our two nations are getting closer, not farther apart.
That's easy. We simply don't allow a Democrat to take power again.
"Easy" 🤣.. not impossible though
All he has to do is keep rigging the election to get Republicans elected, duh! /s
Taking China out of the equation would greatly benefit Russia’s manufacturing and steel industries as well. China is destroying everyone’s ability to manufacture not just the US’s. They really need to be stopped.
This is why you wan to get along with your neighbors!
Also, we tipped them off to an imminent Islamic attack a few months ago. Putin was grateful
Are the democrats going to use this as evidence of collusion in their stupid Peach Mint?
Do us a favor though!
Chicago is a city full of Americans
Also talked about oil ...
Do we get to keep the plane? That's one baddass jet built originally in Ukraine.
It's awesome, but it's not even their largest plane. Its big brother, the AN-225 (also Ukraine-built) is just incomprehensibly massive. Largest plane ever built, and it's extremely unlikely that record will ever be broken.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-225_Mriya
In action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iovbnl8VGj4
My error. I was thinking of the 225 which is on par with the Spruce Goose.
The AN-124 definitely qualifies as "one badass jet" too. Just extra-cool that such a badass jet has a bigger brother!
Strange that beef isn't cheap yet. Price of cows at slaughter has dropped at least as much as the stock market.
Everything is out of whack ...
Meat is still in high demand, perhaps even higher than before.
The Muh' Russia Media never mentioned this. Nice gesture whether or not the supplies were actually necessary. Wew Vlad.
I honestly see this whole ordeal bringing Russia and western nation's closer together. Russia isn't happy with China about this. Russians and the Russian Government are quickly finding out their interests do not actually align with China as much as they thought they did, despite their differences with the west.
China is becoming world enemy number 1.
So you're saying Russia is learning that China is Asshoe?
Hai, China ASSHOE.
All we get is comedy

Get it done!!!
Honestly pretty cool seeing that plane, not many Antonovs flying around here
This shit brings tears to my eyes. Here Trump is, calling in favors from all around the world and people step up because they respect him and the US. Here too, are democrats doing everything they can to shut him (and us) down.
Obama called Chicago. Asked for a favor. 24h and 65k later, a private jet stuffed with hotdogs and walnut sauce lands in DC for a special party.
That's a Russian Air Force plane. Wow. Never thought I would see the day. I will never fully trust the Russians (child of the Cold War) but I truly appreciate their kindness in this terrible time. Thanks, Russia. I mean that.

I read on the Internet that Russians don’t fuck around. Can anyone enlighten me?
I can't wait for liberal heads to explode.
Geopolitical maps are now being officially redrawn. This was in the works for awhile. Good times!
All against China.
Fucking RUSSIA has done more for Americans than democrats have
RUSSIAN CUHLUSION!
Credit where credit is due. Thank you Russia.
This is proof GEOTUS is a Russian spy.
Muh Russia caloosion
Would have loved to hear that phone call:
GEOTUS: Hey there, Vlad! Wanna do some collusion?
VLAD: (hearty laugh) Sure, everybody knows we're always happy to collude with you!
One at JFK in New York City, also
Better preemptively release the transcript...just to be sure
How long before the NPCs a at MSDNCABCCBSCNN reee "Muh Russia!"
They are just burying any mention of the story. And Bill Browder is being a fucking shitstain as usual.
What was on the plane? Chinese 80% defective shit just to make Russia looks good for propaganda machine?
Quite possibly
Interesting how majority white conservative russia isnt getting obliterated...
Get Woke, Get wuhan i guess is the saying right?
Putin rocks. A great man. I've seen interviews with Russians saying don't believe the media frauds about him.
Reeeeeeeeeeee
Russia was only involved as a ScapeGoat for what China was really doing this whole time.........
FUCK CHINA!
In his presser yesterday, President Trump said Putin called him and offered to send the supplies. Not the President called Putin.
All I can say is America has spent at least 100 years coming to the aid financially and militarily of all nation's. For once, we are in need of not money, not troops, not oil, we just need some masks and ventilators that are made mainly in sweatshops.

America First. MAGA. KAG. Trump 2020
Most people won't know it - but the USA helped Russia during a famine in the early 1900s.
Nice to see too strong world leaders getting along well. Acting in good faith and proper dealmaking makes best.
Bleep-Boop!
Wonder how many Democrats will not accept Russian medical supplies?
Trump gets a lot of flack for having a huge ego. But when it comes down to it he always gets shit done and his ego never gets in the way. The same can’t be said for almost every other politician. Putin is also a GEOTUS
